To be nice; the decor was the best thing about this place as was the presentation of the food-both were inviting. I don't often eat meat, maybe once or twice a year, but when I do, I'd like it to be tasty and succulent. I went to lunch with my daughter after a doctor's appointment in the area. We arrived about 2pm on a weekday. Not many people inside, yet the server had an air that he could hardly be bothered to serve us. Service was slow. My BBQ/bacon cheeseburger was cooked to the correct doneness, perfectly medium rare but even with the BBQ sauce and bacon the actual burger meat was tasteless- this was an angus burger- so I'm assuming the chef used a lean mix and then forgot to season it; no fat = no flavor! My daughter had the crab-cake sandwich after a bit of discussion of what the sauce that came with it tasted like; waiter said it was spicy-which prompted my daughter to request it on the side. When it arrived; Half her crab-cake was burnt, the sauce wasn't spicy at all and was actually a bit tasteless -like mayo mixed with ketchup. Her Old Bay fries arrived with no Old Bay on them. The waiter brought new fries with a sprinkling of Old Bay ,JUST ON TOP-we're talking lazy here. The buns were stale and toasted to try to disguise this fact. There was also a shiny, sweet coating on the buns Im assuming was honey -it didn't work with either of these food choices (crab or burger). No refill of her water or my ice tea until we asked, while we waited, and waited, and waited for her cookie sundae. My daughter loves her desserts and always saves room-takes home half her food just to indulge. Well this cookie was inedible and when the waiter finally showed up to present us with the check, I told him the cookie was burnt (my daughter was in restroom) it was very obvious she didn't eat it. He offered to have another made for her but now it was after 3pm -over an hour that we were there already -for a burger and a crab-cake-seriously? He didn't remove the burnt cookie-sundae from the bill either. We didn't even order appetizers. The bill for one iced tea, one burger, one crab-cake and one dessert was over $50.00! What a waste. I don't mind spending more on meals, but only when they're above average and accompanied by happy/gregarious wait staff -this wasn't even average. Just over-priced below average fare in a nicely decorated, very dark restaurant. They need a new chef and maybe some fresh blood for wait-staff--lots of people looking for jobs, shouldn't be too hard. I don't see what the other positive reviews are talking about ....maybe the outdoor seating in the summer and the gigantic bar? If you drink enough maybe the food tastes better and you won't care if the wait staff is a bit snooty.
