Bruce, you and your group were amazing and a pleasure to have! We have never experienced such a great group of people. I am glad that you had a special time and that we were apart of that experience. You are always welcome at Bungalow! Congrats again and best of wishes to the bride and groom, I hope Cabo treats them well!

I hope for everyone's sake that Scott still works at the front desk because he was AMAZING. As someone who works at the front desk of a hotel I know how tough and demanding it is to work by yourself which they usually are at the Bungalow. He went above and beyond to meet any of the needs my friends and i put forth during our weekend stay. He was so personable and passionate about his job.

The hotel room was immaculate and spotless. We had the Australian suite and couldn't believe how beautiful the room was. Complete with an electric fireplace, huge flat screen tv, and a wet bar it was more than I could have ever imagined. It was also the first time I experienced a waterfall type shower head and there was no turning back from that. If your willing to dish out a few extra bucks then this is the place for you. Just a short walk to the beach and the surrounding shopping and dining areas it's completely worth every penny!!!

Unfortunately, Scott is no longer an employee at Bungalow (though he visits often!) We will be sure to take care of you just as well as Scott did when you do decide to return and it would be my pleasure to assist you. Our rooms are still worth every penny and Pier Village is currently expanding and has a lot to offer. Come see us soon!

We recently returned from a dismal one night stay at the Bungalow. It was a third visit for us so we thought we knew what to expect and were aware of existing shortfalls such as the street noise, no coffee makers in the room, no beach view, no honor bar or food amenities and that there is generally only one employee working at a time so it's more like staying in an a nice funky apartment than a "luxury hotel."
However, this visit was dramatically different from before we even arrived. I made our reservation in April for a 2 night stay in May - (a month prior to our visit) and was specifically told there was a 3 night cancellation window. At the time in April this was true. What the employee taking my reservation did not tell me was that by the time I arrive in May that window would change to a 7 night time frame. Five nights prior to our stay we had to modify our visit to 1 night and were told that would be impossible, we would have to pay for both nights ($500 a night!) as the policy has now changed to peak times. The manager refused to change or negotiate with us and was beyond rude when I tried to compromise. After one of the employees offered to fix it for us and just charge us for 1 night she actually changed it back after we checked out and then scolded me over email! But honestly, I could almost forgive all of that if the room and hotel and been wonderful.

When we arrived for our one night stay on a cold, rainy day we arrived to a much different hotel than the one we had previously stayed at. Someone had left the A/C in the room set to 63 degrees and the room was frigid. The fire place was not working and we had no way to warm up quickly. We literally had to leave the room for 2 hours and go to the bakery downstairs to warm up while they got the heat on and fireplace fixed. No apologies, no compensation, but the young employees working did try their best to get it right. When we finally could use the room it was filled with dust bunnies, the floors were filthy (I made my kids keep their shoes on the whole time), there was chewing gum stuck to a picture frame (so gross!) and the entire suite was generally not kept up. The Apple tv did not work and the cable went in and out and the ipod dock did not work. We had requested a cot which wasn't there and when it came it had no blanket. It took 2 more tries to get the blanket but the lone girl on duty was very nice when it finally came. All of that could almost be forgiven but the night just got worse. When we arrived back from dinner at 11pm there was a huge party in the lobby complete with the worst Bruce Springsteen sing-a-long imaginable. This went on until well past 1am even though we complained twice. The noise was deafening and the sound of the bass shook the room. They did offer to shut the garage doors in the lobby (not sure how this would help) for us. As our room was on the second floor directly above the party the noise was so loud we might as well have been trying to sleep in the middle of the party. Further, either the sing-a-long or the loud street and foot traffic noise (of which there is ample) was disturbing several of the many dogs who were staying at the pet friendly hotel. The barking went on as late as the party in the lobby.
The final straw came after I returned home and once again emailed the manager (the single rudest person I have ever encountered in the service industry) and explained all of the problems we encountered and again asked if we could negotiate the unfair charge of $500 for the room we did not use. She literally emailed back and told me (and I quote) that "On behalf of Bungalow Hotel, it would not be acceptable for you to stay with us again in the future." I'm sure that won't be a problem for my family....
I think this hotel would be perfect for a young college group looking for a spring break vibe (if they could afford it) but if you are an adult or a family looking for anything the slightest bit upscale or with even the most minimal service requirement this would not be the place for you. There is actually a beach front hotel steps from the Bungalows that will likely suit a variety of needs much better.

Room Tip: If you absolutely must book a room, do not stay on the 2nd floor or on the street side of the hotel.

It is unfortunate that you took these measures after our conversation. Bungalow Hotel abides by its guidelines that are clear in our confirmation letters. We do however, consider things out of one's control interrupting a scheduled plan and we accommodate accordingly. As for the noise disturbance, upon check in all guests were notified of a wedding party that would be occupying the lobby. We apologize for any inconveniences that you may have experienced during your stay and I am glad that we were able to fix them.

I'll make this short and sweet. Think tranquility, trendy, friendly, walking distance to fantastic restaurants (Avenue) and bars (Indulge), stylish rooms and trendy decor. All of this is located in Pier Village in Long Branch. The Bungalow hotel is centrally located and everything is smooth, from check in to car drop off. Devin at the front desk was extremely helpful and we were up in our room within 5 mins. Rooms are gorgeous and modern. South Beach meets Manhattan. You walk outside to the boardwalk and on a sunny day it's a slice of heaven. Go! Just book it and go. You won't regret a minute or a cent spent there!

Room Tip: There are no bad rooms here.

There were so many details surrounding my sons wedding this past Spring that I didn't want to think about the hotel and how they would handle our large party. My expectations were exceeded with the staff, service and hospitality. I especially appreciated CHANTEL, one of the housekeepers for her attention to detail. Fabulous place that we will certainly return to

My husband and I stayed at the Bungalow after a family wedding and were very happy with the accommodations. Many of our family and friends stayed as well, so our group had the whole place to ourselves! So different from other places at the Jersey Shore. We were pleasantly surprised! Cool, chic and modern decor, with some very interesting touches throughout. Bed was really comfortable. Staff was very nice and helpful. Very affordable, as it was off-season.

loved the design of the hotel, room was great for a romantic getaway, gas fireplace, comfortable bed, wet bar. The bathroom is in an open style toilet in its own stall size room with solid door and the shower has a glass door and is open to the room with a large double sink lots of storage space and "prep space". As a couple intent on some personal time away from the kids wonderful. The wet bar is a wet bar not a kitchenette. there is only a great little fridge with bottle/wine rack. No coffee maker, or any other appliance. There was a cork screw in case you forget yours.
The lobby has a pool table and a bar which was not open when we were there march 2013, or at least we never saw it open.
That is it no other facilities to go with the room. So in many ways you should compare the price for a very nice room to the room of a basic one star level motel like red roof say. Everything is nearby coffee, pool, beach, decent restaurants, bars. fitness club etc but it is not part of the hotel/services that you get when you pay for the room.
The marketing materials indicate a disconnect between the hotel reality and the management.
there is no DVD library, there is no kitchenette, the beach club is separate with separate charges etc. The room does have apple TV but we were unable to use it and could not by phone with the desk resolve the problem and since we were already under the covers did not wish to pursue the matter.
There was an ipod dock but it had no batteries, The wall clock still showed standard time two weeks into daylight time. The management just seemed a little lacksidasical and not attentive to detail.
We had a good time and enjoyed ourselve at an off season rate but I would hesitate to return during the high season.
But again coming down from Manhattan; the room is huge and fun for a couple, one of you has to be willing to get dressed and fetch the coffee that's all.

Thank you for your comments. During the off season we do not have our bar open everyday but the games and DVD library located in the lobby are available for use at any time. All front desk agents are trained to make drinks so if you inquire about the bar they would love to help you. I apologize for the issues with the Apple TV and your iPod dock, we are transitioning into new equipment throughout the hotel. We would love for you to stay with us again in the future to show you a more improved Bungalow.
