“Overpriced and Not as Tasty As We Had Hoped”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013 via mobile

We visited The Strip House in Livingston last night. We were under thrilled with the meal and found it to be ridiculously overpriced and in our mind, not deserving of the price. I ordered a lobster bisque that was okay but fairly tasteless. I ordered a petite filet mignon and it came out on a large plate with garlic and the steak looked like a croquette. My husband ordered a sliced strip steak and it came out with a cheesy sauce that was unexpected and not that great. The bet part of the meal was the bread and the extremely large slice of chocolate layer cake for dessert. It was about 6 years or more since our last visit and I do not see us running back any time soon.

“Gourmet dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

Creative flavorful dishes with interesting presentation make this a superb dining choice, while the distinguished decor, quiet ambiance and superb service makes it suitable for both couples or serious business lunches. The Charred Strip Steak Salad I enjoyed was topped with homemade mini-potato chips that were an ideal flavor/texture combo w/ the other salad ingredients; the steak was tender and lean, and the black truffle dressing rounded it out with a subtle fresh finish. Delicious! The Classic Cobb Salad received rave reviews from my husband, as well.

“One of the Weirdest Christmas Eves Ever”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

So I was visiting family in New Jersey. It was Christmas Eve and I was starving. Lo and behold, the restaurant in our hotel was still open at 10 pm. It was incredibly over priced, but the atmosphere was worth it. The restaurant was bathed in red light, with photos of New Jersey celebrity icons plastered on the wall, and a world beat Euro funk soundtrack playing. Totally retro cool, hilarious, and slightly seedy, all at the same time. I felt like I was in a French film from the mid 1960s, and something bad was about to happen. Alas, it didn't. My salad was fine. My wife's scallops were fine, and the cocktails hit the spot. The service was fine, considering it was Christmas Eve and everyone clearly wanted to go home. If you ever want an experience that is part David Lynch, part foreign film, and part sleaze, the Strip House is the place for you.

Always love this place for a consistently excellent salad, the best raisin dinner rolls around and delicious steaks.

“Great food, but worth the price?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

My husband and I went to Strip House as part of a little get away. We really enjoyed our steaks and the service was good too. The salads & sides we ordered were delicious also. That being said, the prices were a little over the top. We also weren't crazy about the decor, it felt kind of dated. Strip House is definitely worth a try though, especially for a steak lover on a special occasion.
