“Post Hurricane Sandy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

Keansburg is an old Raritan Bay beach town that was badly hit by Hurricane Sandy, Oct. 2012. It was home to the oldest boardwalk amusement park in NJ, but that too was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. At this time, it is a wait and see as to its future.

“Dirty”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

Not so much of a complaint about the beach itself, but the water and the seabed are fairly dirty there. This is probably because of lack of current or something natural there. The beach itself is nothing spectacular. Did not see any showers or bathrooms there, though you can find a bathroom in the adjacent amusement park.

“Great value priced fun for the kids”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

Keansburg beach is north of Sandy Hook National park and therefore is missed by many. The beach features an amusement park that is fun and great value for families of all ages.

“Scary”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

I just didn't feel safe here. There were hobos on the beach. Drinking beer and trying to grub cigarettes (I don't even smoke).
The thought of walking to the water and leaving my stuff behind was NOT even a possibility!

“Slummin It....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2012

I would define this beach as Point Pleasants ugly cousin. Atmosphere is severely lacking and so is a tasteful crowd. The rides for kids are great though and if you buy tickets well in advance (I think maybe Easter weekend?) ticket books are buy one get one free...which adds up to a nice savings. If you don't mind hangin with the no teeth crowd once in a while this place will suffice...hopefully it is close because its not worth a trip!
