“Great location poor management”

Nice proximity to NYC, this busy hotel offers average rooms, and dicey service. At check in we were brought to an occupied room. Room service phones were out of service. Front desk needs 3x to get a situation resolved.

Shay and Edith at the reception were wonderful hosts! Love this property! Very clean! My girlfriend and I drove up for a girls getaway and fell in love with Jersey City! It was steps away from the path train to get to the city. (15-20 minutes max/ runs 24hrs) We were greeted with warm chocolate cookies at check-in. Honestly, NYC trip ever :)

Room Tip: Ask for a NYC skyline view.

We booked this hotel for two night stay for Easter and it was a good choice. We took Junior Suite, it was only one what was left (hotels in the area were almost fully booked then).
Hotel is very close to Manhattan and its in a good and quiet area. (except train what rides near hotel, makes noise) Path-train stations are quite near, so getting to Manhattan is easy and quick (to WTC and 33rd street) We didnt spend that much time in hotel, only for nights and it was okay. Room was big and bed was cosy. Room and bathroom was also very clean. Nothing bad to say.

Only negative is that there was no breakfast included to price and the breakfast was expensive if taken separately. (but, there is hundreds of cafes in manhattan which serves breakfast in reasonable price). If you are having problems with sleeping, light train and elevators might disturb your sleep, (you can hear noise to your room) but it didnt disturb me..

I would stay another time right away, it was so pleasant stay. Staff were so friendly and helpful, special thanks to Felix! ;) I would recommend for everyone!

We love the convenience of the train just literally 10 minutes walk from the hotel! We stayed here because the prices in NYC for the night were off the charts! Enjoyed a well sized room for less than one third of NYC prices.

Warm welcome with hot gargantuan cookies that were absolutely, unbelievably delicious. We savaged them whilst still at check-in and then flashed the Hilton Diamond Card and the magic cookies appeared AGAIN - yummy!!!

Staff excellent - beds very comfortable - bathroom well sized and laid out - very clean!! As a Diamond Member we received complimentary breakfast which was of a good standard.

Overall a great experience and a viable option when NYC prices are just simply too high!

I stayed at this hotel St. Patrick's weekend. The cost was very reasonable compared to staying right in NYC yet it was very convenient to get into the city. The PATH is right up the street and the light rail to get around Jersey is right next to the hotel. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were spacious. The bathroom was modern and very clean. My only complaint was the elevator was a little on the slow side....but if that is all I can find to complain about, this place was awesome. Oh, and it did have a mini fridge and micro in the suite we had.

As a "Road Warrior" I stay in dozens of properties each year. The DoubleTree in Jersey City has the most courteous staff of any property I visit.

The front desk staff is extraordinary. Shay, Mildred, Felix, take extra effort to greet you even as you're just crossing the lobby.

The hotel experienced a temporary failure of their hot water system during one of my recent visits, they had repairmen on site immediately, and the staff was apologetIc and quick to offer suggestions and alternatives.

This is *my* "go to" property in Jersey City.

I believe the two points I listed are mostly what people care about. Let me add a few more points.
The doubletree breakfast used to be free, now only to Gold frequent stayers. That said its a nice breakfast- real eggs, and superior to the really icky buffets at some of the other Doubletrees.
Wifi is also only free to Gold/platinum frequent travelers. So Hilton is telling me, we don't value your business as much as road warriors.
I think it's time for hotels to get with the 90s and realize Internet is now like heat, water and AC. In fact, I would prioritize WiFi over TV.
Some hotels have an evil team of MBAs trying to do customer discrimination models to wring out pennies from us. Those hotels offer a trickle WiFi so they can deceptively offer 'free wifi'. Crippled wifi is not sufficient. That's like getting cold water but not hot. Others have just free wifi in the lobby. I can put myself in the hotels shoes, it's tempting to construct these spreadsheets and make fun models of the consumers that care more or who are on expense paying extra. Two things you don't realize- one is that there is another group of evil MBAs working at everyone company- pouring over our expense reports and flagging payments for WiFi. They have no problem saying-use the lobby WiFi. The other key point is that those who want/need WiFi is soon going to be everyone but a small band of Amish traveling buggy whip salesmen. Those who want WiFi are going to be angered by a trickle for free or no WiFi except the lobby. So wake up hotel owners, ignore your overly shrewd MBAs and open the WiFi. By the way- for those hotels that complain on the infrastructure cost- I say look at Ciscos Meraki wifi networking.
