“Great hotel for family trip to Manhattan.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2011

Our two families, each with 10 and 12 year-olds, chose to stay in Jersey City for our two-day visit to Manhattan. We wanted a pool and bigger rooms...the Hyatt was perfect. The $208 per room rate was a savings over in-town hotels. Our room was ready when we drove up at 11 AM. The PATH subway just outside the hotel took us all to the World Trade Center in under 20 minutes. From there we could walk or take the subway anywhere. At the PATH, each family bought one $40 Metrocard (it comes with a $6 bonus) which lasted us for the 2 days. Our connecting rooms each had two double-beds and were spacious, with a very welcomed sofa under the picture window that overlooked Manhattan's skyline. Food was astronomical though, so we found good nearby take-out at night, to enjoy in our rooms, and the kids headed to the small but heated pool, which was perfect evening after a day of hiking in the city. In the morning we took advantage of the in-room fridge and coffee makers, and had our own continental breakfast in our rooms. We saved the restaurant budget for Manhattan. The Hyatt's valet parking fee of $32 and gave us until 5:30 (officially 5PM) on check-out day to pick up the car. The smaller hotel bill, for a very nice hotel experience, was a pleasant way to end our stay.

I got a fantastic deal on this hotel for Christmas weekend on Priceline ($75 per night). The hotel is in a great location if you want to get into the city - the entrance to the PATH station (with trains into NYC) is right outside the hotel. The views of the city from the lobby and the rooms were impressive. All the staff were very helpful and nice. Parking is expensive at $32 per night (but I guess that's what you can expect for the area). The rooms were clean and nice - my only complaint is that the the walls seemed thin because I could hear the people in the adjacent room (but maybe that's only because they were loud). I would definitely stay here again.

We loved our stay here in Nov 2010. We only stayed there for 2 nights but I highly recommend it to everyone.
The room had fantastic views of the Hudson and Manhattan and were very very clean and spacious.
The staff were very friendly and very helpful when asked for something. We did not eat in the hotel because like the whole of New York, it's not cheap.
Its right on the Hudson river and only 50 meters away from the subway station to Manhattan and World Trade Centre site.
There's also a water taxi just outside the hotel as well so if you don't want to go on the subway to the other side just jump onto the water taxi for $5 each way.
Also there is the New Jersey light railway that we used to get to the Bayonne cruise port at 34th street where our Royal Caribbean cruise left from. The fair was only $2.10 each way per person. Loads cheaper than the taxi price of $50 to $60 bucks
The location of this Hotel has a very romantic setting and has a very nice boardwalk and seats just outside so you can enjoy the views. Its well placed with trains, boats and taxi's and some nice breakfast and restaurants for the evening just meters away from the hotel.
The only thing I will do on my next stay is not to have a room on the 7th floor which is right under the hotels Manhattan nightclub which was right above our room. But the music did stop at midnight.

Can't say enough good things about this hotel. Service and staff was great, hotel was beautiful and views were unbelievable! Only negative was having to leave the comfortable beds! Would never stay in NYC again if I could stay here instead.

We recently spent Thanksgiving weekend in New York. We decided to stay just outside of Manhattan for the lower cost and the likelihood of finding a hotel with a pool. We found the Hyatt in Jersey City after much comparison and LOVED IT!
1) Location: Fantastic! Amazing views of Manhattan! Literally just walked out the front door and caught the PATH train to NYC (one stop, 4 minutes, to World Trade Center). PATH was clean, efficient and super-easy.
2) Hotel was very modern, clean. Rooms were comfortable, view of Empire State and skyline. Beds were great. Kids loved the pool - not enormous, but decent-sized.
3) Staff was amazing - everyone was super friendly and accomodating.
4) Only slight downside was some noise the friday night of our stay from rude wedding guests in hallway (but by the time I was going to complain, I fell asleep!)
WILL DEFINITELY STAY HERE NEXT TIME IN NYC!

We had a great stay at the Hyatt from Tuesday, Nov 23 - Thursday, Nov 25. My biggest concern with our trip was getting to the hotel from the airport (LaGuardia). We ended up taking a taxi to the WTC PATH station ($42 for 4 people) then PATH to the hotel. The PATH station is right at the entrance to the hotel, so very convenient. Traffic wasn't too bad, and we were at the hotel 1 hour 15 minutes after landing.

With 4 people, taking the PATH and subway around the city added up to approximately $100 for the 3 days, but was very convenient. The subway station we used was about a 2 minute walk from the PATH station at WTC.

Our room had a view of the Statue of Liberty. The other side of the hotel has city views across the Hudson. Its nice to have a view other than a building when staying in the city!

The room was clean and comfortable. We have a teenage daughter and son. They took turns sleeping on the couch/bed. Having the couch was a great bonus!

There is a great deli across the street. We had lunch there one day and breakfast the next. There were so many choices we were all happy. The weather on Tuesday was great so we took our lunch outside to a picnic table.

All employees from the front desk to the maid service were friendly and helpful. There is limo service immediately available at the hotel, which we used getting to and from the SOL ferry site - kind of pricey but very convenient!

We didn't eat or use the pool/exercise facilities so can't comment.

I would stay at this location again.

Great location, comfortable rooms, and excellent service - if you can land a price cheaper than in NYC itself, then grab it!

I've been to the Hyatt before for conferences/training, but this was my first chance to stay there - the room price swings wildly between $250 and $400, and I finally got in at the lower end. (Cheaper than hotels in NYC)

The rooms are average size, with very comfortable bed and great views. The long couch under the window was perfect for reading the paper in the morning, or catching up on emails. Wireless service in the rooms and public areas ok - did get bumped off at least once a day, but fast connection. Sign up for their Gold club to get free wireless if you planning on doing more than just once-a-day email checks. Room was quiet day and night, housekeeping well done and discreet - overall a nice stay if a little unremarkable.

Staff service was excellent. My conference included breakfast and lunch at Vu restaurant. Breakfast was the same each morning, which got a little old, but still plentiful and tasty. Lunch menu has enough choices to keep from getting bored - I recommend the chicken tortilla soup. Wait staff learned our names quickly and welcomed us personally each time, and while the service was slow (kitchen fault) the service was always friendly and eager to make things perfect.

Best part of this hotel has to be the location - on a pier in the Hudson, every room has a view of either Manhattan or the Statue of Liberty. Just awesome. The Path station is literally steps outside of the lobby, a quick 5 minute ride into the World Trade Center and subway connections - so I was able to be anywhere in NYC quickly and easily. Area around the hotel is clean, safe, and well-populated so you feel comfortable getting back at any hour.

Overall, I'd recommend the Hyatt if you can find a rate on the lower end of Manahattan range.
