“Great hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2012

I really love this hotel. I got married here a few years ago and my husband and I came back to stay a night to reminisce. Where do I begin? It is very clean and comfortable, yet modern and stylish. The views are amazing. The location is perfect - right next to the PATH station to NYC. The staff is friendly and responsive. The Vu restaurant is excellent (except breakfast. Lunch and dinner are much better). It is very expensive for the wedding packages, but it is worth it for the experience of a lifetime and awesome pictures. I didn't think I would book it because of the price but once I saw the view from the ballroom I was hooked. People still talk about it 5 years later. As a side note, the "Cake Boss" did the wedding cake in the package. I don't know if they stilll do since we got married before the show began.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor for the nice view.

Thank you for your PERFECT overall rating! We always enjoy hosting our married couples; it is a special honor for us to be the hosts for your wedding and we want our hotel to be a magical and familiar place for you to visit for years to come. And we DO still order from Carlo's Bakery, something to consider when thinking about an anniversary party!

My husband attends an annual backgammon tournament here and I love it!! First rate hotel - right next to the PATH which brings you into the heart of NYC (33rd and 7th)!
It has a swimming pool and exercise room, a great restaurant, a fabulous view of the NYC skyline (try to see it at sunset!!!!!!!!!!!)

We recently (Dec 29th-30th 2011) stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Jersey City for our trip to New York City. If visiting NYC, you won't find a 5 star hotel (my rating) with such great accommodations anywhere close to this affordable price. In NYC you will pay ~$400 per night for what we paid $200. The hotel staff is very accommodating and actually wants to take care of your every need. The guest relations staff was very helpful in giving us ideas for NYC. Access to NYC is just a short walk to the NY or Jersey PATH subway. We used both and preferred the PATH due to its location. For just $2 bucks, you were right in the heart of NYC. As for the hotel, the views are outstanding as we faced the Hudson River and had great view of the NY skyline. The room included two comfortable full beds with enough room to move around. The rooms also include a full size built in sofa under the full window but there really isn't a sitting area. Without a doubt, for the hundreds you save per night by staying here vice a NYC hotel, we will be coming back here.

I spent a long time looking at different hotels for our five days in New York. My Fiancee wanted a room with a view of the New York Lights and I wanted to have a view of the Hudson, therefore this hotel was the best choice.

We stayed in the Manhattan Sky King Room which was prepaid. The room was amazing, the whole of the end wall was a full length window of the view of Manhatten directly opposite the new Freedom Tower and World Trade. You could also easily see the Empire State Building and Chrysler building. The room was large and spacious and was perfect for our stay.

We used the Path trains to get to WTC (Buy a 10 trip card to save time looking for change each time you use it) and then walked to Chambers Street (1,2,3) to get the Times Square. Also be aware that Cortlandt Street doesn't exist as I made this mistake on the first night.

We also had dinner on 01.01.2012 at the hotel. The meal was reasonably priced especially with a bottle of wine. Also you get to see the Statue of Liberty too from the restaurant.

We took a taxi to the hotel from Newark and back, which was $55 there (with tip) and we then got a private car back at $62 (with tip). The private car was quickly organised and got us to the right terminal very quickly. The conciege were very helpful and friendly.

The Bar area is also nice, as you can sit and enjoy the view on comfortable seats.

You can also collect BA points by staying the Hyatt when you check in.

The hotel also allows you to check in online and print your boarding pass for free. This was very helpful.

WHEN not IF I go back to New York, this is the only hotel I would consider and I would choose the Manhattan Sky King Room again.

Room Tip: Manhattan Sky King Room

Our family (two adults, two children) spent five nights here after Christmas, choosing it because it had good reviews + was a relatively good deal + was well situated for access to Manhattan. Overall, though, we were disappointed with the experience. Access to Manhattan via PATH is good, but is not easy for Newark Liberty Airport - $60 each way by cab or limo. The view is great but you only get it laterally out of the rooms, which either face north or south - and the Statue of Liberty is a long way off to the south. The decor in the rooms is tired and ours had no comfortable seats, just a rock-hard sofa that did not fit properly. The prices at the Vu restaurant are laughably high - about $85 for breakfast (although fortunately we had coupons for two people) and dinner entrees starting at $25. You are paying for the view, not the food. There was a refrigerator in the room but not much to choose from in terms of local supermarkets, and no liquor stores that we could find. We were paying high season rates (one night the room was nearly $490) so we were looking for value for money, and did not get it. (Why have hotels like this not yet discovered HDTV?) Staff were generally very good apart from obnoxious receptionist one night who objected to my criticism when they did not send anyone to fix the window in our room, which was letting in wind and rain on a very blustery night. In all a disappointment, and while we enjoyed our visit to NYC we would not stay here again, and instead would most likely pay a premium to stay in Manhattan proper, or even rent a short-stay apartment.

Room Tip: The higher the better; rooms on first floor have no privacy from sidewalk.

Hyatt jersey City is fantastic whether you are visiting the NJ area or Manhattan - rooms size is bigger than average and are quite comfortable - you have a breathtaking view of uptown and downtown Manhattan from most of the rooms and from the walkway around the hotel - Path train is just outside the hotel entrance (Exchange Place station) just one stop to World Trade Center where you can catch MTA trains to uptown - Brooklyn and Queens - just fyi during weekends PATH trains are not as frequent as in weekdays - if you don't want to have breakfast in the hotel you have a few places for breakfast within walking distance from the hotel including Au Bon Pain almost across the street.
I felt absolutely safe going around the hotel even late in the evenings
This is really a place to stay and return - you'll enjoy it

We spent Friday December 30 and Saturday December 31 at this beautiful hotel. Our room was very nice and the view was spectacular. My only complaint is that you don't even get a drink of water included with the room. On Saturday morning, we came down to the lobby to look for a cup of coffee. We found a coffee and tea station just outside of the restaurant. Upon closer inspection, we found (in rather small print) on the sign $3.00 per cup. Even most motels offer the guest a free cup of coffee. Our room had two small bottles of water that sported a sign "For Your Convenience" with another small print $3.00 sign on each bottle. Even wireless internet was $10 a day! I understand that the room rate is high because of the view. I also understand that the room rate is higher because of the Hyatt name. However, very small and inexpensive things go a long way toward a completely satisfied customer.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the front of the building looking toward the Manhattan skyline.
