We received a free upgrade to a one bedroom suite on arrival. The room was very spacious and impressive! There were some minor problems with the bathtub faucet, but the room was well equipped with two TVs, plenty of wardrobe space and drawers, a sofa and coffee table, a dining table, a large kitchen and reasonably sized bathroom.

It's location is midway between Exchange Place and Newport PATH stations, so you can easily walk to the nearest PATH to get to New York. Parking is plentiful but costs $20 per day.

We had a room on the opposite side of the building to the light rail and had no complaints about noise during the night.

Very happy with this hotel and we will definitely be back.

I had a lovely time here. The room was updated and clean. The rooms with a view were all sold out but it didn't really matter. You can literally step outside and walk to the boardwalk across the street and have all the view you want. Absolutely beautiful location! We had some trouble working the AC in the room and the stove but front desk was nice enough to help us. I didn't hear any neighbors or thumping above us. Slept like babies!

The location of this hotel is perfectly situated between exchange place and newport station stops on the PATH. Both walking distance. There is light rail about a block away if you don't want to walk. For groceries there is a shop rite grocery store near the newport station. I prefer the bars and restaurants near newport anyway. On the weekends when exchange place station is closed, u have to use newport. Make a left out of the hotel and straight onto the boardwalk that cuts through an apartment building. This takes you straight there. We found out about that shortcut on our last day unfortunately. The hotel does have shuttles that only go during fixed times.

Overall, lovely place. I would totally stay here again

Room Tip: don't sweat it if you can't get a room with the view. the hotel doesn't have that many f...

I stayed here November 27, 2013 to December 4, 2013. Long story short I arrived in New Jersey on November 21st for a 2 week vacation to visit New York. We originally rented an apartment but less than a week in, the building next door to ours caught fire. So there we were, the night before Thanksgiving and homeless in a foreign country. Luckily, my sister was able to find us a room at the Candlewood Suites. The service we got was amazing and those who worked there were very compassionate about our situation. (They gave us a free night considering the circumstances) The room was great. Clean and spacious with a kitchen. They have a laundry room which was free to use (you have to buy the soap) and I can't tell you how thankful I was for of it! (I was up until 4am washing all the sot and smoke out my clothes which I was very fortunate to still have) The staff that stood out to me the most were George and Dan who work at the front desk and Mike and Karim who work security. These guys were awesome! Very friendly and always helpful. The location is also really good. A quick 5-10 minute walk to the PATH train which takes you straight into Manhattan. Although the area is a little isolated at night, its a quick $5-$10 cab ride back and during the day the hotel offers a shuttle service. All in all, when I go back to New York (and I will), this will be the first place I will look to.

The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. The room was clean and spacious. There are rooms that overlooked the river, but ours overlooked the Light Rail and part of the financial district. Still, at night the view was quite nice. We had a queen studio and it included a full size sink, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher. It even had simple dishes, utensils, dish towels and potholders. The queen sized bed was comfortable. The bathroom spacious. The hotel is convenient to the Light Rail and PATH into NYC and a short distance (walking) to Liberty Park to view the Statute of Liberty and/or to catch the ferry out to Liberty and Ellis Island. There is a little snack area which I thought the prices were a bit much, but really no more than what an airline asks you to pay ($3.00 for a snack) and the coffee is delicious and free! They tell you at check in that cleaning service is limited so if you want towels you can exchange them at the desk, but we would just ask housekeeping. But don't expect to have your bed made daily!
Only "problems" we encountered was that the ice maker in our fridge didn't work and although we called down about it, and mentioned it at the first desk, and were told that it would be taken care of, it never was. The air conditioning unit was loud so we were constantly turning it off so we could watch TV without turning on the captioning feature and sleep. But it kept the room quite comfortable. Oh yeah, and they didn't have any little bottles of lotion only shampoo/condition and bars of soap.

We stayed in Candlewood Suites in May 2014. Our experience was great - very close (1 minute walk) to the train station, grocery store near by (walking distance), water taxi to Battery Park - 10 minutes relaxed walk, but the most amazing was the view - the whole Manhattan not even 5 minutes walk from the hotel! We could see Empire State Bld from our window!!! Everything you need is in the kitchen (even pop corn for the movie night), good bathroom, 2 rooms (one bedroom and one living room with sleeping sofa), tv is in each room. I though the ac was too strong, we turned it off, other than that - everything was perfect. I don't even know why this hotel is 2 stars. It is nothing fancy, but it is everything you need!!! We will return and many times!!!

Room Tip: Take 4th floor, corner room.

Staying in candlewood suites jersey city with family and enjoying all what a good hotel should proide to their customers. But yes it comes with the cost too. $179.99 plus taxes for a studio suite. It is in prime location, close to newport mall and public transport PATH. Parking to hotel is charged 10$ per night. Clean , tidy, fresh rooms. May be your view outside the room window could be of construction site but its fine for me as far as rooms interior goes excellent. Free laundary FREE FREE FREE. U have to get ur detergents though. Generally i write about the staff in all my reviews so will do here. I would give average rating to them. Prior to my reservation date i called them couple of times to know about few things and each time they put me on hold for unlimited time..so i landed there surprisingly and got to know about charged parking :( well that sadness dint lasted forever after getting in my room. Room has clean utensils, linens, towels etc and very quite corridors, Good job guys... Keep it up!!

We didn't spend too much time in our room, due to the College Graduation that we had to run into NYC for, but what little time we spent there; all was good!

getting into Jersey City was not very easy, due to some road construction! the woman at the front desk was very attentive and provided us with 4 rooms keys without any question. our party had 4 different rooms and as far as I know, all were good. our queen room with living room & kitchen was clean and there were plenty of towels for the 4 of us!
it was a relief to find a cork screw amongst the kitchen supplies that were provided.

I had to run down to the car, so used the stairs down the four flights as opposed to waiting on the elevator. it was apparent that some upgrades were being done with the carpet in the stairwells, but it was not a mess.

the only possible negative was that it seemed difficult to adjust the room temperature, but we just opened the windows a little.

when we went to check out, we informed the desk clerk that we had to go into NYC and if it would be okay if we left our car parked in their lot for the day. he was very good about it and just rekeyed our card so it would open the gate when we got back and left.

we would recommend this place ...
