“Great location and Great Staff.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

If you are looking to go to New York I suggest you stay here for the convenience and the price as compared to New York City hotels. Great staff , great location to subway (PATH) that will take you into New York and a price hundreds less for hotels you can see in Manhattan by walking 100 yards and standing down by the Hudson River and looking at a great view of New York.

My wife had to attend a conference at one of the neighboring building in the Newport area of Jersey City and we stayed here at the Courtyard. If you are looking for a swanky-style hotel, you won't find it here. But the hotel provides the basics for your needs. The hotel is dated (carpeting is old, fixtures in bathrooms could be replaced, room AC was a bit noisy), but the room we had was quite spacious and comfortable. Free Wi-Fi and overall clean. The lobby area must have been redo recently as it was very nice with a mini-breakfast bar and comfortable chairs and couches. The staff there was very friendly. Location-wise, it is perfect for the area of Newport. The Path station is right next door and you are only minutes away from either the World Trade Center station, or the stations going north to mid-town. You are only a couple minutes walk to the shore, where you have stunning views of lower Manhattan. Plus, Hoboken is only a short walk (or a quick train ride) where you have many choices of restaurants. I likely would stay here again.

I stayed two night in room 621 (no view) but I there was no traffic noise and I don’t think there are views from any rooms anyway. We had two queen beds with 3 pillows each, super beds and better linens.

I requested a rollaway that I knew I’d never need but it got me a bigger room and used the sofa fold out with table as a place to relax after walking in this cold weather.

It has free Wi-Fi, a coffee pot and ironing board and hair dryer. It also has a very large work area/desk, cable TV viewed on a 32” model.

The hotel sits within a two minute walk to the PATH subway exit at Newport with easy rides to the new World Trade Center and Museum at $46.00 for one adult and one senior and $5.50 round trip each on the Path train.

From the hotel we also took the PATH to Radio City Music Hall and Time’s Square that was totally enjoyable, insane and crazy even in this cold, windy weather. Even if you don’t stay here, make the trip to Time’s Square to see all the crazies about.

Cheers

I know I have reviewed this hotel but I was just there last weekend and thought an update was worth while. Sometimes people write reviews and your looking at it 3 years later.
I was there with a group of 67 high school students. Our check in was very smooth. Off to the rooms with everyone in less than 15 minutes (25 rooms).
The rooms are very clean and look sharp.
I was in the exercise room and they have brand new equipment - state of the art stuff.
They have a wonderful cafe in the lobby and John the GM and Rose the AsstGm will greet you at breakfast. If you come to breakfast two mornings in a row they will remember what you ordered the day before
They have two computers for your use in the lobby and you can print your boarding passes if you want
Can't think of a better place to stay where you can get wonderful service, large clean comfortable rooms and such easy access to NYC.
I bring my next group there at the end of May 2015.

Room Tip: Get a high floor facing NYC. You'll be able to see the skyline at night

Within 25 minutes of Newark Airport, by Holland Tunnel to NY - and near lots of business/companies in Jersey City. Clean hotel, nice room, quiet, very comfortable. Staff was helpful, friendly and went beyond regular/standard service. Would stay again!!

Room Tip: Facing Water - Higher Floors

Spent three nights here while visiting schools in Manhattan. Selected this location where I was close enough to traverse Manhattan while parking my car for cheap. The hotel is immediately adjacent to the Newport PATH station. Fares were $2.75 each way to get into Manhattan and often required we switch to the NYC metro lines which cost an additional $2.75 (or thereabouts) We bought a Metro card (at the Newport PATH station) which could be used for both, but you still had to swipe for each line separately. It would take about 15-20 minutes from the moment we left our room until we arrived in lower Manhattan depending on when boarded the PATH train-- which often ran every 7 minutes.

The hotel is nice. Parking is valet but quite cheap for New York ($22/day). There were two wedding groups staying there while we were there. Across the street from the hotel are some restaurants and behind that a mall. If you go up one PATH stop to Hoboken (or walk for 20 minutes along a meandering route hugging the waterfront), you can visit Carlo's Bakery (of TV fame) which is quite popular.

PS. Free wifi.

Room Tip: You can ask for a view of the Hudson river, but we were fine with the opposite views which helped us...
