“New York without bedbugs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2010

We were in NY for 4 days and we stayed at the Westin. It is 4 minutes from the Path train that brings you to the World Trade Cenbter and downtown NY. You could also use the ferry if you want. Nice location, parking is not far away, some shops around to find last minutes requirements We strongly recommend ! ! !

For easy access to NYC without the NYC hotel prices, this is a great choice -- as long as you don't eat there. New, so everything is clean and bright. Public transport across the street. Easy highway access. For seveal reasons, we had to eat breakfast in the hotel. Service was sluggish, knowledge was limited, quality was average, but prices were way above average.

This hotel should be your choice, if you'll visit New York or specially Manhattan. The PATH (train) station is 2-3 Minutes away from the hotel. Path will bring your direct to manhattan.

If you prefer a great view to manhattan and take perfect night or day pictures, you should be use an hotel in Jersey.

WestIn is a new (build in 2008/09) hotel. Is perfect for business or leisure.

Internet is not free in the room, but in the lobby. In Room WLAN for 9.99 $ / 24 h.

The hotel pool, in the 5 story, has not a perfect view, but it is quite nice.

We loved this hotel from the minute we checked in. Will was unbelievable,he was beyond kind and curteous, assisted my teenage boys in getting their XBox hooked up, provided us with awesome takeout menu's, great Italian and Chineese near by. Our rooms were fantastic one with partial view and the other with a full view of the Manhattan Skyline...BreathTaking! Concierge provided info on GrayLine Bus Tour for the Hop on Hop off City Tours (highly recommend for newbies). The Path Train is directly across the street so easy to get into the city. A beautiful yacht club across the street . Very Safe, Clean and Quiet, New Mall beside hotel with no sales tax in Jersey City, great shopping! Dined in the Hotel Restaurant, very enjoyable as well. New Meadowlands Stadium is about a 20 min drive from hotel, easy drive and the best outlet mall, Woodbury Commons Premium Outlet mall is only 1 hr away. We will definetely Return, Thanks for a Memorable Family Holiday!!

After reading many reviews of this hotel I booked it knowing what I would get into. yes, it's true that only the top 2 or 3 floors face the Manhattan skyline. And yes, there was internal construction going on in the building opposite the hotel. However, when coming to stay at the Westin, we didn't need a great view. What we needed we got: a good sized, clean room, courteous service at the front desk as well as the concierge. The location is superb: it's close the the PATH train ( about 20-25 minutes to 33rd street) as well as some restaurants, a Starbucks, a supermarket deli (good for breakfast) a large supermarket and a few restaurants. The mall is literally a 2 minute walk away.
Having read the previous reviews I knew to ask for a North facing room ( the South side overlooks their parking lot - the North side the construction site - I guess a soon coming new hotel), a room NOT located on the 5th floor ( it's the gym & pool floor ), the funny thing about the mini bar, which seems to be wired or" infra-lasered" and thus just by touching it, it will send off a signal as though you may have used something from it. Free internet only in lobby
I would definitely stay there again.

My family and I stayed at the Westin in Jersey City for a weekend in Aug. to do some touristy stuff in NYC. The location of this hotel is great for getting into and out of the city. There is a PATH station within walking distance ( approx 3 min). You can get good rates here for weekend stays because the area is mostly geared for business. The hotel is fairly new so it is in good condition, the rooms are good, nothing overly impressive, keeping in mind that our rate was super cheap for 2 nights( 2 nights for less than 1 in city) I wasn't expecting anything fancy, just basic 2 doubles with a view of next door construction site. ( no work Sat/Sun but started jackhammering @ 7:30 Mon a.m.). The pool area is ok, pool is kinda small but works( pretty sure hotels in nyc do not have pools) only 4' deep. The hotel has a couple restaurants that we did not eat at so no comments, I did check prices at the one that does breakfast buffet, adults were $22.95 and kids $12.95. We passed on that, lots of money for breakfast imho (3 adults 1 kid--daughter 13 is considered adult). There is a place across from PATH station called COSI that has breakfast sandwiches and "squagels" ( square bagels) and coffee juice etc., nothing fancy but cheap and good!! The hotel is located adjacent to the Newport Mall, we didn't really go to it but it appeared to be a full size mall with lots of stores. The parking garage is behind hotel and was @22.00 per 24 hrs. (parked @ noon Sat and departed 9:30pm Mon and was $66, not bad) They also offer valet parking for $32 for 24 with in and out privileges. I believe internet is free in lobby but extra for use in room, didn't use it, just used my phone. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
