21 South is a local sports bar in Jackson Crossing in, naturally enough, Jackson, NJ. It is at least the third restaurant and second sports bar to occupy the same space over perhaps five years. The first restaurant, "Scorpios" overpriced on its menu and wine list and underperformed in the kitchen.
The second occupant, The Stadium, had its prices right and offered good food and reasonable prices at the bar but was apparently not managed well enough - or perhaps the bar was not supervised well enough and it closed though not for lack of support by the diverse local sports bar clientele which didn't seem to find much fault with it. Despite the ownership reducing staff and changing managers The Stadium collapsed on itself.
21 South has been open for a while now and seems to be doing well. The bar and dining area are pleasantly full by dinner time and the food is pretty good. It offers various specials one of which this reviewer has tried several times, a Honey and Pepper Strip Steak, that is well worth trying and the food and prices are pretty darn good and from what my dinner partners told me their burgers weren't bad either. Just as importantly, 21 South's staff is attentive. Hopefully the management will manage to keep its act together because so far the public has seemed to enjoy the newest place in town!
