Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Jackson, NJ is a very well maintained water park. The entire park is extremely clean and well taken care of. The park is pretty big and there are a variety of rides for everyone from little kids to thrill seekers. From this aspect, the park is a great place to spend a day.
Unfortunately Hurricane Harbor does have its shortcomings. The first is the prices. They are ridiculous! First they charge you $22 to park! Yes, $22! Then unless you want to wait forever for a chance at finding a free tube, they charge you to rent a tube. This is a new practice that was recently started to gouge customers even more, they used to be in abundance and free. What kind of water park makes you pay for tubes? Then there is the food, very good but very basic boardwalk type food that is extremely over priced. In the end you spend more on parking and food alone then you do for the ticket, which is around $40. The park is also understaffed and a bit unorganized. If you pay extra you can get a flash pass and cut everyone in line, which is stupid and very annoying for those of us who thought spending hundreds of dollars for a day at a pretty average water park was good enough. The lines are slow because you have one lifeguard trying to control several slides. There has to be a better system. Some employees couldn't even tell us where the tube rental building was.
All in all, its not a bad place to visit, but expect to empty your wallets. If Six Flags one day decides to be somewhat reasonable to their guests and get rid of the stupid parking and tube rental fees perhaps Hurricane Harbor would be a better value.
