“What A Nice Place”

Seaview Resort & Spa, A Marriott Resort

Feb 18, 2008

This hotel is an old style country club, with food and activities on site. There are two golf courses ,2 heated outdoor pools and an indoor pool. We enjoyed spending time in the recreation room. In it were 2 pool tables,2 air hockey tables ,a foos ball table,a shuffle board table and a video golf game. Our room was newly redone -large and well appointed with a desk, a table ,2 easy We asked for a refrigerator and a microwave and received within a half hour of checkin. Our room was clean ,for the most part. It is an easy twenty minute drive from Atlantic City. We went for a getaway anniversary weekend for two and truly enjoyed ourselves. We would definitely go back to this property.

My friend and I stayed here for one night to escape it all and go to AC as well. We treated ourselves to facials at the Red Door. The services itself were fabulous, ( I had Dana) but I have to say I was not impressed with the women behind the front dest, to me they were very snobby. It was very expensive too for what it was. I got the impression that they thought they were better than everyone else and knew it all. I was turned off and didn't make it worth it at all then. I doubt I would ever go back to The Red Door. I would stay at The Marriot though for sure. It is 15 minuted from AC, so you could just call a cab and go, they run all night long, and it costs $30 each way, pricey, but I think it's worth it.

“Charming Hotel”

My husband and I stayed here for a little two night getaway. The hotel was charming. Little touches, like free hot apple cider in the lobby, were appreciated. The room was fine, though the age was apparent. The front desk staff was excellent.

One complaint, the maid service came knocking each morning very early (8am or so), even when we had the "do not disturb" sign in. Luckily, we were up, but not showered or ready to leave. Their English was not great and they kept asking me what time we would be out for the day. I didn't really appreciate feeling rushed out of the room, since we were planning to move at a leisurely pace. This happened both mornings and they would knock multiple times until we answered. I am not sure why this is happening.

My family of 4 stayed here on Christmas night. The hotel was not at all crowded so they upgraded us to a suite which we very much appreciated. Everything was very comfortable. Had breakfast in the dining room the following morning. The food was good and the service excellent. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

“Harassment at the Villas”

We go to Atlantic City for a fun weekend about 8 times a year. We have stayed at this hotel maybe 40 times over the past 7 years. We even became engaged there, and I host business conferences there. We love it. We prefer staying at this classy historic resort with superb service as opposed to the smoky crowded craziness of the AC casinos. I enjoy being able to sleep with an open window, get fresh air, and go for a jog around the golf course the next day.

I noticed recently on the Marriott web site that you can also book nightly rooms at the timeshare 'villas' next door. I did a couple of months ago, and it was fine. The units are well appointed and very nice in a synthetic, cheaply constructed, kind of way. Usually it is just the two of us and we don't need two bedrooms and a kitchen.

I did a few weeks ago when I went to AC with a friend on a Sat. night and thought it would be nice to have separate bedrooms. What transpired the next morning turned this into perhaps the worst hospitality experience I've ever had - and I've stayed thousands of hotel nights at hundreds of hotels around the world.

It was a Saturday night and we were out at the casinos very late. Starting at 10am the next morning, the staff kept calling constantly to tell us that it is past checkout and to leave immediately. I told them that we'd like to go back to sleep and check out at noon, and they said no. Nothing in the room, on their materials, or what we were given at check-in indicated that checkout time is at 10am. It's not like this is a business hotel, and I was told they were empty the next night. It was absolutely shocking to be tired, showering and packing up, and to be getting inexplicably belligerant and harassing calls every couple minutes.

I now notice a few weeks later on my credit card that on top of the $300 for the night, they charged me another $100 for late checkout (we left at 11am). I now realize that the whole harassment campaign was a method for these time-share hustlers to make another $100? It was a very disturbing experience. So, be warned.
