Description: Matt’s Red Rooster Grill is a contemporary American bistro paying homage to a wood fired grill that “brings out the best flavors” of traditional American cuisine, reinvented creatively. A CIA (Hyde Park) graduate, Chef Matt McPherson stays true to his local roots integrating the finest seasonal ingredients, sourced from local family farms & day boat fisherman into his unique dishes. The restored Victorian home provides a relaxed elegant atmosphere to catch up with friends, celebrate special occasions, enjoy a romantic dinner, or impress an important client. As Matt’s creations pamper your taste buds, the staff indulges you with rock star service, the perfect remedy for a long day or week. With two floors, downstairs feeds off the warmth & energy of a bustling open kitchen. Four seats at the Chef's counter let you feel the heat, as you watch Matt & his team from a perch over the grill. Upstairs is away from the bustle while the porch provides relaxed & refreshing outdoor dining.

“One of the Best Steaks I've Ever Eaten”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

After reading all the great Trip Advisor reviews on Matt's Red Rooster Grill, my wife and I decided to give it a try for a special occasion. I have to say that this was one of the finest dining experiences we have ever had. There was nothing about tonight that we didn't like. The restaurant is impeccably decorated, the waitstaff is excellent and the food is heavenly.

For our appetizer we had New Jersey Fried Green Tomatoes. These were lightly breaded, fried and topped with corn relish and crispy apple smoked bacon. For my salad I ordered the Grilled Romaine. It had a delectable hint of smokiness from the wood fired grill and was dressed with Caesar Dressing and Parmesan cheese. But the best part of my evening was the Grilled Filet Mignon. It was cooked to a perfect medium and was topped with crumbled Blue Cheese and apple smoked bacon. It was so tender I could literally cut it with my fork. Even their bread is special. It is served with a relish of pureed green apples and Balsamic vinegar. My wife's Rib Eye was also cooked to perfection and was moist and tender. She ate every bite, something she rarely does.

Yes, it was a bit on the expensive side, but we both found it to be worth every penny. We will definitely go back again for another special occasion.

Our favorite restaurant in Flemington. Marvelous steaks, seafood, appetizers, etc served by a well trained professional wait staff. And BYOB to boot!

“Trip Advisor Treasure!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

Thanks to Trip Advisor for finding this gem. With all positive reviews what can you do but go and try it? Forgot my wine at a BYOB place, no worries, the staff offered an excellent local wine that was better than what I had planned to bring.

Sit downstairs if you can and enjoy the kitchen view. You will find it in every review and they are right the grilled Romaine is unbelievable !!!

“missing soup”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

The food was good but, the 2nd floor was very warm. Our waiter was lethargic. He forgot my soup. (he did remember my wife's) We over heard him complaining he was not happy about working on July 4th, He makes less money.

“Variety of entrées and seating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

Whether you sit on the front porch, downstairs with open kitchen, or the cozier upstairs, the place is fantastic. Downstairs is a bit noisier than the other areas. The menu has a wonderful selection. I've been leaning more toward their fish entrées because of their flavorful chutney and sauce choices. Every single food item we've had has been wonderful. Favorite table is #3 in the bay window downstairs. Less acoustic noise and a bit away from the kitchen, but you can still see the energy. Jamie is very accommodating. The service staff is efficient and friendly.
