“Great place to crash, but not the cleanest”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2009

After about 6hrs of driving and midnight being just around the corner my g/f and I started looking for a place to sleep. When we got out at the exist we first checked the holidayinn right off the highway but the rate was nearly $100 so we drove further down the road to find this little comfort in for $71 with a king size bed. The staff was friendly with us and rather quick. The room we got was a decent size, the bed was comfortable however there was hair in the tub and the bed. The tv was a little bit fuzzy and the breakfest was empty. The breakfast ends at 10, we got there around 9 and besides hard boiled eggs or wafles they were already out of everything else. Once again the staff was very helpful in the morning. This is a good place to crash when you really need an inexpensive place to stay however I would not recommend it for an extended period of time...

This hotel is ideally located on Rte 1 in Edison, convenient to everything in hte county and New York City, and that's all that can be said about it. The exercise room looks attractive and well set up with a treadmill, exercise bike and universal weight set: the treadmill's track was dangerously loose and stopped and started on its own, regardless of what the user tried to do; the bike and no seat adjustment and didn't funtion; and, the universal machine's cables were off the rollers. I specifically look for properties with exercise rooms, so this place lured me in with false advertising. The room coffee maker was provided without any service packs of creamer, etc. (this was every day, not one time.) Two skimpy towels were provided, no hand towels and a washcloth. The breakfast consisted of Englsih muffins that were so stale they couldn't be cut with the plastic knife provided'; stale cereal, and not much of it; warm orange juice; and, the weakest coffee I've had in many year. When the desk manager was apprised of these things, she just shrugged her shoulders and ignored me. When I sent an E-mail of this situation to the corporate customer service, I received a form letter that said the hotels are operated under franchise agreements and hoped a 'will consider this an isolated incident.' There's nothing isolated about it. This hotel is being run on a shoestring and guests pay the price.

The room, facility and cleanliness are satisfactory and what you would expect and from that standpoint, given it's location the Comfort Inn is a good value. But they need to improve the night management radically. We checked in around midnight and the lobby and adjoining breakfast area were filled with a dozen adults/children talking very loudly and watching a blaring TV and shouting on cell phones. In the short process of checking in the manager received 2 calls of complaint from guests and did nothing to quell the noise being made. After we got settled in our room (which was far enough down the hall to avoid the noise) we discovered that our TV remote didn’t work I went back out to the front desk amidst the same noise as before. At this point another guest, ahead of me, was complaining that the noise had been going on for hours demanded to be moved to a room on a higher floor which a, now different, manager arranged rather than do anything about the people making the noise. As far as the remote was concerned, he reached into a box of remotes and handed me one and said “see if this one works, and I’ll be down in a minute to make sure it’s working”. He never came and, of course, it didn’t.

I stayed here for one night on business. The rate was very reasonable. I booked a queen room, but was given a king, so that was nice. My room didn't have a refrigerator or microwave, but I didn't need them. Some rooms may have them, so ask if you want them. The check-in and checkout were fast and easy. The room was very clean and looked as if had been remodeled in the last year. Nice granite counter housed the lavatory. The free breakfast was adequate: two cereals, hot waffles, quite a few breads and pastries, apples, milk, juice and coffee. The elevator worked fine, though it needed a remodel of its interior, which was somewhat dated. Lots of reasonably-priced restaurants nearby.

  • Liked — Attractive, clean room with very comfortable bed
  • Disliked — Elevator interior needed updating

well i stayed at the comfort inn for business this past week. the lobby was clean but very generic... nothing fancy... i was booked in a double with a refriderator and a microwave..when i got to the room there was no fridge... and no remote.. i called the desk the switched me to another room which had it all the fridge the microwave the remote.... the beds were super comfortable but i can see how people could say they were a little high. the room is decorated rather nicely... the granite sink was a nice touch and a surprise.... the shower need a a more pressure... and the toilet seemed to run in the middle of night but only a little. i guess it was from when some one else in the hotel used the toilet... the hotel still seams to doing some renovations on some of the room... i have to say thats this hotel was a bit unexpected for a comfort inn .. i hope the continue keep the place kept up and clean.... oh and yes the elevator is a little slow ... but not that bad

We've stayed here before, as it is a great location for our business travel. They have an ongoing problem with the elevator!! It was broken last Spring, and was not working again this Fall!! The Clarion, a few exits West on 287, is now a better place to stay in this area.

  • Liked — Location, clean room
  • Disliked — Elevator still broken!!

No one at check in counter when arrived. Shower didn't work in the morning and called for a key to another room to take a shower and clerk said he was the only one there and I would have to come down and get the key. After three trips up and down for keys, because the electronic keys would not work, I finally took a shower. We went down for breakfest and there was no coffee or juice available and the clerk was rude. When I ask to have my bill adjusted, I was told that the manager would be in at 10:00 am and he was the only person that could adjust it.

Rude clerk.
Understaffed.
No management on site to resolve issues.
Poor breakfest.
