I was attending a conference in Edison, New Jersey and decided to try out the Sheraton. I had never stayed at this chain of hotels so I wasn't sure what to expect.
I was traveling by myself so I was having some difficulty with all of my bags. I did not see any carts or anything that I could put them on so I was dragging them across the lobby. I was a little surprised no staff offered to help. There was a man who was checking on next to me and they gave him a ticket and told him someone would bring his bags right up.
That aside, the woman checking me in was very friendly, which is always nice after a long trip. She gave me my room key and I made my way up to my room.
My initial take on the room was that it was clean and comfortable. After about a minute I could smell a bad smell throughout the room. It wasn't strong but it was enough to notice. It smelled like onion. At this point I didn't make a stink about it (no pun intended) since I was going to be there for such a short period of time.
The only other things that were minor but noticeable were the tv picture was horrible I ended up watching netflix on my iPad. There was a desk lamp that would flicker on and off at random. there was a train that drove by periodically and blared it's horn. Lastly, the walls were paper-thin and I could hear everything the people on either side of me were doing.
The positive things were they do have room service, the staff is friendly, and there is a Starbucks in the lobby which was super convenient!
I am guessing that all of the rooms
Didn't have that weird smell and some of the other minor problems but that was the reason for me giving cleanliness a score of 2. I am all for second chances so maybe the next time it will be better.

Thank you very much for your recent response, we are glad you stayed with us. We are very happy to hear that you found the staff and friendly and the hotel clean. Our team did look into your concern however regarding the smell of your room, although isolated compared to our other rooms we have shared with houskeeping to ensure that we are more sensitive to any odor that might occur and have not found any pattern or reoccuring incidents. I do apologize as well for the inavailability of our bellservice along with the cart, unfortunately other arriving guest prefer to take the bellcarts and inadvertantly leave them up on the hotel floors making it a challenge to locate sometimes. We do apologize once again for any inconvience this might have caused and hope to see you again in the near future. Warm Regards, Tony L. General Manager
