“First class at an amazing price.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2013

We had booked the Times Square Marriot Marquis for 2 nights @ $650/night. A friend questioned my sanity and recommended Homewood Suites in Edgewater, NJ. What a good call that was. Yvette and Mario treat you as though you are family.
The room was impeccable, and the service beyond friendly. NYC was a 6 minute fairy ride away, and was very easy to navigate.
The only problem we encountered was my other half had trouble sleeping the first night because she heard a humming noise (our room abutted the elevator), which I never heard. The second night, she had no problem. Breakfast in the lobby area is a delight. Good variety, and quality items to choose from. I highly recommend this accommodation.

Great staff, clean hotel. Family of 5 stayed for a one week visit to NYC. Transportation to NYC was convenient after we became acclimated, which did not take long with the front staff's guidance. I highly recommend these guys, and will stay here again if presented the opportunity.

This is the place you really want to stay. It has spacious suites, outstanding service. The view is fabulous overlooking at Manhattan across Hudson River and top notch complimentary breakfast and dinner. I had an excellent experience with the hotel management. The General Manager Sandy Padua accommodates my reservation needs and helped me extends my stay another 60 nights even though the hotel was fully booked. The front desk crew are very friendly and courteous especially Ivett and Taly. I can thoroughly recommend and rate the hotel with 10 and A+

LOCATION: my wife & I usually stay at Hilton family hotels. We had stayed previously in Jersey City, but I could not get a reasonably priced room for our Saturday night stay, so we decided to venture up to Edgewater. The area seems to be on the rise. The hotel is at the edge of what seems to be a fairly new shopping complex and is in excellent condition. There is a parking anywhere on the property (including the shopping area behind the hotel) or in the underground parking deck that is attached to the hotel. No charge for parking. We felt very safe. My concern was getting into Manhattan. I was nervous about the ease of getting across the Hudson, but it all worked out. The hotel's shuttle to the ferry was convenient. (About 5-7 minutes.) The hotel will give you a ferry schedule. They run either every 20 min. or 30 min. depending on the day/time. $9.00 per ride. Takes you to 39th St. near the Jacob Javits convention center. You can get free shuttles from there to various points in Manhattan as far up as 59th St. & Lexington. We didn't try the bus that other reviews mention. One minor issue: we were told to call the hotel from the ferry stop when returning for the shuttle back to the hotel. We got to the ferry stop Saturday night around 10:00 and called, only to be told it would be about 45 minutes because the shuttle was very busy. We were tired, so this was disappointing.
ROOM: we were fortunate to get a beautiful room on the 7th (of 8) floors. High enough to have a very nice view of Manhattan. (I think that view is lost at the 6th floor and lower.) Very nice room with full kitchen, including a full fridge with freezer. (However, we didn't need any of that, so we didn't use it.) Everything was very clean. Very quiet. Very comfortable bed. Couldn't have asked for more.
BREAKFAST: very nice breakfast area. It was kind of crowded Sunday AM when we went down around 7:30. It was a fairly typical self-serve breakfast. The scrambled eggs were a cut above the usual buffet breakfast fare. My wife wished there had been fresh oatmeal... all they had was the instant packs. But otherwise all was just fine.
STAFF: the staff was, as other reviews suggest, very pleasant. The young lady at the front desk who explained the shuttle/ferry situation was likeable, helpful, and seemed genuine.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of Manhattan... I think that requires the 7th or 8th floor.

My wife and I moved in here six months ago during an apartment renovation in nearby Fort Lee. It will be hard for us to leave. The hotel exceeded our expectations in every area. The staff was tested early in our stay by Superstorm Sandy. In spite of the power outages and various shortages the staff did a great job of pulling things together, taking care of guests and keeping everyone's spirits high. Many staffers were separated from their own families in order to be on hand.

There are many good reasons to stay here for anyone visiting NYC or doing business on the West Side. Easy and fast access by bus or ferry. Half the price and twice the space of good accommodations in Manhattan. Great environment during the weeknight "receptions" in the lobby dining area. (Watch out: carbohydrates rule)!

But far and away, the hallmark of this operation is the staff. They are competent, friendly and go the extra mile to make sure everyone's needs are met. Over the period of our stay here they have become like family to us.

It really doesn't get much better than this.

Room Tip: The 02 and 04 lines have the largest bedrooms with an extra closet. Important for long term stays.

Great location in an upscale mini shopping plaza with several casual food choices plus the wonderful Flemings (steak house chain). We had their Sunday night special: roast beef with a fabulous view of the NYC night skyline. Drive into NYC on the weekend (Lincoln Tunnel) as parking with Quik Park is $17 a day in lots of mid-town locations. Use your smartphone for internet on www.QuikParkGarages. Hotel (215 rms) beautifully managed with a nice friendly helpful staff who were well trained and efficient.
