We had heard about this restaurant for several months before finding the opportunity to try it.
We were seated right away which to me is always a plus when a reservation is honored. I was warned that their chairs tend to be rather uncomfortable, very straight back hard wooden chairs but noticed when I walked by during their outdoor dining months they had more comfortable chairs outside. A quick phone call before our chosen date and was assured that I could have one of the "summer" chairs. I have to assume I was not the only one with that request since I saw several placed throughout the restaurant. They set all comfortable chairs at our table so I did not feel conspicuous.
The server was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu and came over to us soon after our arrival. I am not sure the reason since they were busy but not packed, but it took way over an hour for our appetizer to arrive! Also, I had ordered a lobster bisque and right before our appetizer was to arrive, I was told there was one ingredient that I could not eat. So I was given a salad which was just a mound of greens with olive oil on the side... A far cry from the bisque I was looking forward to enjoying. I very much appreciated the "catch" but wish I was told earlier and given back a menu so I might have chosen something other than boring greens!!
The entrees were ok...rather high prices without the flavors or presentations that we are used to from other restaurants of that caliber.
The dessert was a panna cotta which I found to be a little heavy and gelatinous. I have had a similar dessert other facilities where it was very light and airy.
Also, we found the music to be a little loud and was surprised at their choice of playing oldies-- it really did not go with the mood of the restaurant !
I believe the best night to go to Pairings might be a Wednesday night when they offer a price fixe for a very reasonable cost.
