I was very excited when Sweet Water opened because it seemed like a "philly type" place but without needing to cross the bridge. However, I have to say our service was poor and the food was even poorer. The waiter seemed very unprepared and did not know the menu at all. It seemed like he was just pulled from the diner side of the restaurant and had no training on the restaurant end.
There were four of us and each of our meals were either average or below. Someone got a turkey gobbler type sandwich and it was awful! The stuffing tasted like spongey bread and had no spices or seasoning. The prime rib sandwich that I got tasted bland, almost old, like they were using leftovers from the diner. There were 2 burgers at the table, both OK, but nothing spectacular.
On a positive note, our appetizer, the buffalo chicken meatballs, were very good and a unique offering.
In my opinion the restaurant and diner are sharing foods in order to create different dishes and be more economical. This is a great idea, when done properly. My experience showed that they were not executing this plan well. Sweet Water's prices are on the higher end, and if they wish to continue to charge higher prices they need to correct some inconsistencies in this business model.
Pros - Beautiful inside, big bar, lots of specialty cocktail options, outdoor seating area
Cons- Service was mediocre, quality of the food was not equal to the high prices they charge
