I stayed at the Grand Hotel for a weekend trip. Their was only one night available at another hotel so I chose the Grand for the other night. What a big mistake. The room was not like the pictures we saw on the website to say the least. It looked like it had not been serviced for a long time even though the beds were made. We stayed in a room that was poolside. The carpet in the room was filthy and disgusting, as well as the broken plaster on the newly installed kitchen area. The towel bar in the bathroom was broken as well as the faucet and one lightbulb that was not working. The lamp in the room was broken. Their were no power outlets. It was more of a depressing type room. The best thing about checking into the Grand Hotel was leaving. Usually, checkout is 11:00 AM in all motels and hotels. But, me and my family could not wait to leave. So, we checked out at 8:00 AM. Thank God we had a different motel the following night which was a total reverse of the stay at the Grand. For the money it cost to stay at the Grand we should have gotten a room that was up to par. In my opinion, that room should have never been rented. From what I can see all rooms poolside as well as alot of other dissapointing features like their dirty big pool, it was a complete ripoff. A disgusting place to stay.

My family stayed at the Grand for the weekend and had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I was very pleased with how clean the rooms were. Everything in the rooms looked new. The food at the restaurant was delicious and they are very kid friendly. So stay at the Grand for a true Cape May experience.

My family just came back from Cape May. I have not stayed at the Grand in 6 years and swore I would never again. But there was very little available on short notice. The first time I stayed the room was soaking wet from condensation (I guess). The room had mold and stunk. The indoor pool that we were so excited about was a disgrace. WELL, things have changed! The room was very clean, no dampness, well kept. The hotel lobby is gorgeous! The outdoor pool is fantastic! Bally-hoo's restaurant is great. And the indoor pool area is beautiful! The only thing is, they should lighten up on the chlorine or get better ventilation in there. The things that may have been good 6 years ago I guess I did not notice because the room and indoor pool were so very bad at that time. I said to my family this is where I will be coming from now on. I loved it!!!!!! Just two complaints - The outdoor bar by the pool should NOT close as early as 5:00 and they need more help out there. They were so good at their jobs and so nice but totally overwhelmed. And this goes to ALL hotels - If a room sleeps four how dare you charge extra for more than 2 people!!!! Stop nickle and diming your guests! We pay enough!!!! But I do love the Grand!

About a month ago we decided to make reservations for a weekend in Cape May. We stayed in Cape May two years ago, so I thought it was time to visit again. Last time we stayed at the Congress Hall. It was ok, but grossly overpriced imo, so this time we decided to try the Grand Hotel. We were impressed when we walked into the beautiful lobby of the hotel. The girl at the reception desk was very friendly and went out of her way to suggest restaurants to try. We went to our room, an efficiency room with kitchen and ocean view. The room was just as it was described to me over the telephone. It was clean and tastefully decorated. Although we did not use it, the kitchen area was noteworthy as it had a microwave, coffee maker, glasstop range and granite countertop! It was very impressive for a hotel room kitchen. Since it was raining, we went to the hotel’s indoor pool. I think it is the only indoor pool in Cape May. It is a large, lovely pool area. We thoroughly enjoyed both the pool and whirlpool. We were a bit tired from the drive and swim, so we decided to stay close to home and try the hotel restaurant “Ballyhoo”. We did not have reservations, so we had to wait about forty five minutes for a table after beinig told that it would only be about a twenty minute wait, but no big deal. We had a few drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. Overall we had an enjoyable experience with the restaurant. The food and service were both very good, and moderately priced for Cape May. It is not one of the “upscale” Cape May restaurants, but it is not held out to be one either. It is a very good restaurant, good portions, appropriately priced - a good value! I think that is the best way to describe our experience with the Grand. It is a good value. Compared to Congress Hall, the Grand is far less expensive with great amenities. I would definitely recommend the Grand Hotel!
