“As comfortable as your own home....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

We spent last weekend at our favorite B&B in Cape May. We have been going here for 20 years and we so enjoy the hospitality of Don and Erik. They give 110% in seeing that you are completely at home and
comfortable. . The food is delicious and you will always ask for recipes. We have never been disappointed and have made many friends along the way. We have tried many in the past and have stopped going anywhere else. Most Enjoyable every time.

The home is beautiful & Erik & Don are gracious hosts. We went w another couple & since single rooms were fully booked we stayed in the suite. This was great for socializing. We understand the suite is usually used by families, which may explain why the queen sized bed has not been replaced; the adults probably sleep in the king sized bed. The bed is very soft & I found myself w a great deal of back discomfort. One night I moved to the floor. Compared to the other B&B's we frequent, we found the breakfast quite scant. It was buffet style, but our options were coffee, water, milk, and 3 types of cereal. There was only one breakfast option offered which in our case was waffles with maple syrup, strawberries & blueberries 1 day, & sweet French toast (w butter, sugar & cinnamon) with strawberries & blueberries day 2. We were given 1 glass of orange juice from concentrate. None of us really like that much sugar for breakfast, so we went with the fruit & had an early lunch. But most B&Bs offer yogurt, egg options, cheese & cold cuts, unlimited juices, abundant fresh fruits, bagels & pastries to ensure everyone is satisfied. We are also accustomed to having multiple snacks - & beverages on offer over the afternoon. Here we were offered only chocolate chip cookies & 1 small bottle of water was given per person PER STAY. As B&B's go, we felt this was far more like staying at a hotel than any of the B&B's we've stayed at in the past.

We stayed 2 nights which was our very first time at a B&B. I have to tell you we were first greeted by Don and Erik...These gentlemen made us feel right at home before we stepped foot on the shiny clean porch! Upon entering we noticed how very clean and beaming with the history of Cape May. We stayed in the Hampton Room which was wonderful..The bed was very comfortable and the A/C worked like a charm..The breakfast prepared by Don and Erik was over the top!! The fresh coffee (available anytime), fresh fruit and little snacks were also a nice touch..This B&B came highly recommended and I have to say it was all that and so much more!! Did I mention off street parking? We will be back for sure and cannot wait! Keep up the great work guys!!

This is my 7th year at the Saltwood House with my sisters and each year is better than the last with Don and Erik. Their accommodations are excellent, and they go beyond the call of duty to make you feel at home with out having to clean or cook breakfast. Don & Erik are part of our summer family and always will be. If you are looking for a relaxed atmosphere, on site parking, walking distance to just about everything and great breakfast check them out. You won't be disappointed.
P.S. If you like M&M peanuts and cookies, they are always available in the living room. YUMMY.

Room Tip: The Cape May Island Suite will accommodate up to 4 people.

We could not have been more pleased with our three night stay at Saltwood House. Our wonderful host thought of everything from towels and beach chairs to a well appointed suite which had wonderfully comfortable beds, a refrigerator, kerig coffee maker, and lovely Victorian decor. Our family of four had the third floor suite and it was perfect. And if we needed an extra shower, the outside shower was wonderful. The location of the Saltwood House was so convenient to all the attractions in Cape May. Half a block from the beach and the outdoor mall it made it easy to just walk everywhere. I cannot wait to plan a return trip!

I spent another weekend at the beautiful Saltwood House. Don and Erik are the most gracious hosts and as a return guest for many years, I can 't wait to get there and I am sad when I have to leave. The home is as lovely in the Summer as it is in the Fall. You are truly in a very relaxing and comfortable place. Don and Erik take extreme care to make everyone's stay enjoyable. I guess that is why most guests have returned year after year. There are no "surprises" and most guests truly enjoy the same beautiful rooms and the delicious breakfasts in the lovely dining room. The front porch is the best place to be on a any given day. I love to sit in the rockers and watch the folks on the street look up and listen to their comments about the house .It is truly the most beautiful home in Cape May. I will be back in October for the last weekend that the Inn is open. It can't come fast enough ! Thank you, Don and Erik!

Room Tip: No matter room you choose, your stay will be comfortable and relaxing. I love the Cape Island suite...

We don't know what else to say that hasn't already been said. We have come to Cape May several times to celebrate my wife's birthday and I was planning the trip again for this year. When our favorite B&B was booked, I looked for another one to visit. I decided to try the Saltwood House based on the great reviews, location, size, and parking. What a great choice! Don and Erik are wonderful hosts that make you feel very welcome. The room was very comfortable and the breakfasts delicious. We really enjoyed having our wine and cheese on the porch while watching the street activity, talking to the other guests at breakfast, and being able to walk most everywhere. We will definitely be back and may now have a new favorite B&B.
