I just returned from three nights and four days at The Gingerbread House seaside Victorian bed and breakfast. It is a wonderful place to stay and I can hardly wait to have another chance to return to Joan and Fred's hospitality. I felt so pampered and well cared for at this B&B. Breakfast is wonderful and something delicious each day. Coffee, tea, fresh fruit, coffeecake, pastries, yogurt, and homemade granola are there each morning. Joan also serves something extra special each morning. It might be an 5 cheese egg casserole, a baked oatmeal pancake, or something else divine. Whatever it is, it is sure to be a little bite of heaven. Tea is served each afternoon from 4 to 5. Iced tea (or hot tea on cold days, I hear) and lemonade with at least three freshly baked cakes or cookie type treats. A lovely way to unwind before dinner.
The B&B is wonderfully appointed with antiques, lace, and beautiful watercolors. It has six rooms. Three have private bathrooms for folks who want that amenity. It has an outdoor private shower should you need one. A private bicycle rack is available.
It is a half block from the beach. It is three blocks from Washington Street Mall attractions. I never needed to use my car after arrival as everything one could want is within easy walking distance. Next time I'll take my bicycle so I can venture even further.
Want ideas for restaurants? Menus are available in the entry hall. Joan will gladly tell you her favorites as will other guests that you meet at the B&B.
Want ideas of things to do? Booklets with suggestions are available in the hall and in each room. Again, the hosts are glad to tell you the don't miss and the "well, if you have time but not a must see."
Joan and Fred go out of their way to make guests feel at home. Want ice for a sore shoulder. Joan will provide it. Need refrigerator space. A refrigerator is at the top of the stairs for guests to use.
I can't say enough good things about "The Gingerbread House." Please go and experience it yourself. I can't believe you'd be anything except euphoric.
