After reading some of the glowing reviews we decided to try to Blue Rose. It is really a beautiful place and a lovely setting. The food was enjoyable, but not excellent. The servings were very small. A poached pear salad that was probably 1/4 of a pear with some cranberries. Served on a large glass plate that was only 1/3 salad, the rest empty plate. They ran out of the oysters by 7:30 PM on a Saturday night. The main plates were also small and limited. 2 steak choices, a scallop dish, a salmon choice, chicken choice and some pasta choices. I had the salmon and the portion was tiny. The salmon came with gnocchi and there were just 6 of them arranged around the plate. My husband had the skirt steak - done perfectly and delicious, but again a much smaller portion than offered at other local restaurants. Another couple at our table had the scallops. Presented beautifully with superb risotto. But again only 3 scallops on top of dollops of risotto. We had to ask for more bread! Everyone had dessert and appetizers and brought our own wine. Pricey for the portions and wait staff needs to be more professional and attentive to try to be more upscale. Server never remembered who had what and we had to "claim" our dishes as they came out of the kitchen! We all thought the food was excellently prepared, but small portions and would like to see a couple of specials offered nightly in addition to the regular menu. Hoping that they increase portion sizes and train staff better because it really is a nice locale and shows promise. Dinner was $120.00 a couple with tip and it is a BYOB.
