“Enjoyed our weekend at Blue Rose”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We enjoyed our stay at Blue Rose Inn. The Green Room was comfortable, clean, and full of natural light. (With the shades up, the room is brighter than depicted in the website photos.) The food was great -- breakfast and dinner. At breakfast, inn guests get their pick from the brunch menu offered to the general public. At dinner, they receive a 10% discount off their tab. But don't forget to reserve -- as the restaurant serves the general public, it can get booked up at popular times. Memorable dish: the crabcakes were some of the best I've ever had. We took our meals on the porch, which was pleasant and quiet. The staff were all friendly, helpful, and outgoing and made us feel welcome. The inn is on a quiet street, just a block from the main shopping area, and a couple blocks more to the beach. They kindly allowed us to use the beach badges and the outdoor shower after check-out, which enabled us to spend our check-out day at the beach. Nice.

Room Tip: The green room on the second floor is full of natural light. It is in the front of the house, but t...

We stayed at Inn and the truth is food is perfectly done. My husband & I appreciate fine dining such as restaurants at Ritz Carlton but the Blue Rose Inn tops the Ritz. Amazing food, service & stay. Very professional and caring people. If we lived in a perfect world every restaurant & hotel would be like The Blue Rose Inn & Restaurant.

So I promised Justin, manager of the inn and restaurant, in front of his father in law that I would write a glowing review of the Blue Rose Inn. In truth, this is one of the easiest reviews I've written on Trip Advisor because there were no negatives to our stay or meals, other than the weather. If Justin could have stopped the rain or reduced the humidity, I would have made him an offer to come and work for me!

We stayed at the Blue Rose a few weeks ago for a combo family birthday celebration I had planned in advance. We booked 5 rooms and were given the interior dining area for our group of 16, including several children, that Saturday night. Joan and Justin were very helpful and accomodating over the phone, but Justin and the rest of the staff couldn't have been more attentive when we arrived. Everyone was made to feel welcome, staff addressed our room needs more akin to what you'd find in a hotel and Justin did a great job bonding with my very curious and mobile sons.

The Inn itself is a block from the main esplanade in Cape May, but as you'd expect, doesn't offer much parking. Rooms are a nice size, recently updated, with comfortable beds and nice extras (good bottled water and toiletries) - only weird thing is the "floating sink" in the middle of the bedroom. And rooms on third floor are a bit more quiet.

Overall, great service and good value. Cheers to the proprietors.

I recommend looking at the menu on-line before visiting. Half our party enjoyed it, the other half thought is was overpriced with a limited menu.

Pros:
- byob in a cool victorian in Cape May
- indoor & outdoor deck seating

Cons:
- limited menu options (For example, they only had one salad:
Bibb Salad: Goat Cheese & Herb Fritter, Fennel, Red Beets).
I asked for a regular house dinner salad & they said "no"

- Some items over priced. The scallop dinner was over $30 for literally 3 scallops. I'm normally not a person that judges a meal based on size and prefer quality over quantity, but the menu and server should tell people when a meal is potentially under sized like that.

We enjoyed the Coffee & Cocoa Crusted Teres Major steak dinner.

Food and service was the best. The appetizers were different, but great. The Duck Confit & Sunchoke Ravioli was fantastic. So flavorful and generous in portion. Some of us had the Sweet White Corn Bisque. So rich and tasty and a good portion of crab meat in it. For dinner the Roast Pork Pappardelle was prepared perfectly. the homemade pasta was cooked to perfection and the pork was so tender. The braised Beef short Ribs had so much flavor and you could cut it with a fork. John, our waiter was one of the best waiters I have come across. You could tell he loved what he is doing. He could give you all the ingredients in any food item. He was friendly, but very professional. He definitely made the night a great experience. Thank you Blue Rose

My husband and I decided to go to Cape May for a 2-day getaway. We scoured Trip Advisor for a B' n B and after some calls around, settled on The Blue Rose Inn. We are so glad we did. It was PERFECT in every way. Justin was helpful and kind before we arrived, and showed himself the consummate "host" every bit of our stay. Nothing was ever a bother and he went out of his way to meet our every need. He even allowed us to have a very late checkout on our last day (so we could go to the beach and shower)! Tom and Joan were equally gracious and warm hosts!! The breakfast (as others have mentioned) is amazing ... and the French press coffee is to die for! Unfortunately we did not eat dinner at the Inn (I think that may have been our only mistake of the weekend) ... but we will be back to do so! This place gets a 5+ from us!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Bronze room and it was lovely ... Some restaurant patrons can stay later and enjoy...
