My wife and I had a very good meal at Freda's recently (and others in the past), but I must warn that the restaurant is small, the tables are close together, and if any of the patrons are loud, it can be annoying. On our last visit there was a group of ten at a long table who had lots of wine and little consideration who made it unpleasant for all others.
However, the crab cakes and the 8 oz filet were both quite good. Our entrees come with a complimentary salad, but to call it a simple salad would be an overstatement; just dressed greens with some cucumber and some slivers of this and that, no tomato. A small loaf of freshly baked bread was served.
Some of the specials seemed rather pricey, but there are entrees priced in the high teens and low twenties, so the restaurant is not unreasonable
We can't describe the desserts because we wanted to escape the noise.
Freda's is BYOB and there is ample metered street parking nearby ( meters are off from November to May).
This visit was unusually noisy, and our pleasant and efficient server, was apologetic. On the whole our visits have been very pleasant, and we will go back.
