Everything about Cucina Rosa was shaping up to be great. They seated up promptly for our Mon 8:00pm reservation. The waiter was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere on the patio was nice (outside, in the bustling Washington Square Mall). The menu was vast, offering many, if not standard, pasta, meat and fish entrees. And the kitchen turned out the meals quickly. Everything was perfect... except the food was not very good. My linguine with white clam sauce had far too much garlic, which is hard for me to say since I love garlic. And instead of whole clams they seemed to drop a few cans of minced clams on top, which loses the texture of a good clam sauce. The tomato sauce on my wife's spaghetti had little more flavor than what you get out of a jar.
It's a shame, really. Everything else about Cucina Rosa was wonderful. And maybe I'm being too harsh because I have so much great Italian food at home. But it just couldn't cut it for me.
