“A solid staple in Cape May”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2014

This place is always mobbed for breakfast -- so if you don't get there early, prepare to wait. The food is good, but I think the draw is the amazing outdoor seating. Definitely a nice place to go for breakfast.

“A Good Option”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2014

Definitely one of the better, more causal restaurants. Very busy and tight seating, but the wait staff is friendly and food is good.

“Best Crab Cake Sandwich”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2014

Loved the setting to eat out on the porch. Whenever you order a crab cake you never know what you will get. The crab cake sandwich was the best I ever had. Not only was the crab cake filled with lump crab, but even the roll it was served on was fabulous. It was soft and not too much roll so you could taste the crab cake. They also served it with a delicious sauce (of which I requested more it was so good). After retiring from the Coast Guard my dad was a commercial crabber and I would pick crabs all summer long for him, so I know a thing or two about crabs and I must say, this sandwich was the best crab cake sandwich I ever had!!! You will not be disappointed!

“Fun for Breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2014

Only had a 10-15 minute wait for breakfast which was a good start. Seated on patio which was a little tight but food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. Really liked the location and quaintness of the place.

“MAD BATTER CAPE MAY NJ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2014

Great experience. From our waitress Meghan G. To our food. Hubby had a bowl of claim chowder to start, said it was the best he had ever tasted. He was wondering how it would be over linguini with fresh claims, Meghan told the chef and she said if we come back next night she will make it for him special we cancelled our other reservations for a different restaurant and went back to the MAD BATTER and the chef kept her word. The meal was amazing and added fresh claims and fresh mussels on top. My husband said it was amazing and should be on the menu. I had a delicious steak with mashed potato and asparagus all very tasty and excellent quality. Owners were very welcoming, this is one of our favorite restaurants in Cape May. Can't wait to go back this fall. :)
