My mother in law and I had breakfast here on 8/25/08. I had the orange almond french toast, and it was fantastic. It had such a nice, fresh orange flavor and the sliced almonds were a nice, crunchy compliment to the soft bread. I also had a side of wonderful, thick sliced, crisp bacon. Perfection!
My mother in law had the country breakfast -- two eggs (she chose scrambled), batter fries, sausage and toast. She ate nearly everything and said it was great, especially the crispy batter fries which were fried with a little bacon.
Service was great, coffee was good, we sat in the back on the terrace. It was very nice. Not too outrageously expensive, much more costly than a diner or an all-you-can-eat place, but the quality was clearly evident and well worth the price.
One disappointment, though. And I hesitate to even comment on it, but it really caused me to take pause. A table of Japanese tourists were dining (it appeared to be two families, a large group) next to us. They asked their waitress what scrapple was, and she very loudly gave a nauseatingly inaccurate description to these poor, horrified diners. I noticed other diners within earshot also stopping to gasp in horror at her comment. I'm hoping that the management will read this and educate their waitstaff that scrapple is not "basically all parts of a pig except the hooves ground up into a loaf." Yuck.
