“The uCottage Apt”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2007

I am writing this from the kitchen of apartment 30. It's 7 AM and I can't sleep because the guests above us are walking around and as a result our ceiling is squeaking so loudly it wakes us up! It's ashame because the experience otherwise has been perfect. The apartment is great, the service just like at Congress Hall where we;ve stayed 3 times before. For the price one pays for the apt, you would think they would address the problem.

If you come ask for APT 31 and please remember the poor souls below by trying to walk gingerly.

We stayed in one of the Carriage Suites while in Cape May for a MAC event. The location of the property was great and the set-up was very nice. The suite was clean and well kept. There were two main issues that were a problem. First, I called the property (it is part of Congress Hall) directly and specifically asked the person what type of bedding the carriage suites had in each bedroom and was told they had Queen size beds. Upon arrival, we discovered the bedding was in fact full size beds, and quite uncomfortable too. Being we were 4 adults and wanted a suite so we could spend time visiting in the room in the evenings, we didn't ask to be switched to a different room type. The other thing we didn't like was that the doors to the balcony did not lock. Yes, we were on the second floor so it shouldn't have been a problem, but it was discomforting. Overall, if you can deal with full size beds, the property was very nice. Great ocean view from the balcony!

  • Liked — location, cleanliness, ocean view
  • Disliked — bedding only full size, balcony doors didn't lock

Just spent a wonderful 3 days at the Star Inn in the motel rooms. what a great deal > last Wed., Thurs., & Fri $125 per night....no crowds just after Memorial Day . Room was very clean, bed really, really comfortable, private outdoor rear sitting area off the bedroom with wicker furniture and cushions. Kitchenette area with 2 burner stove top, microwave, refrigerator and fully stocked with utensils, plates, etc., ideal for longer stays. Use of all the services at Congress Hall. The pool area was great and service top notch. It;s great when you are pleasantly surprised and we were. Can't wait to go back it's not what you would think as a typical motel room.

I enjoyed our stay at the Star Inn. The location is the best. It's very convenient to everything. We had an Ocean side room with a great view. It was small, but it's plenty of room for two people. The maid service was terrific. We always had plenty of towels and whatever we needed and our room was always clean.

The only gripe that I have is with the parking. You have to more or less leave your car in the lot and not move it, if not you'll have to ride around the Congress Hall parking lot hoping to find a spot. It can get confusing because the some of lots were marked "Valet Parking" and we weren't sure if they belonged to the hotel. They need to start checking for cars without hotel parking permits. We noticed that there were people who weren't staying at the hotel or Inn just pulling their cars into the lots and parking there. That included the parking at the Inn itself. Some man just pulled into the Inn's lot and took his grandson up the street to shop. Other then that; it's a really nice place to stay. I would definitely go back.

Poor value for the price. We did not receive vouchers for breakfast, had to ask, after we saw others using them. We were not given the combo to the front door .
Did not receive water nor have glasses washed.
There are better places to stay for the price.

this was our first visit to cape may and i can't think of any place better to stay. the charming appeal of wiling the day away on a front porch swing bench, the quaint coffeeshop in the entrance and the well-appointed foyer and rooms were a perfect setting for our 4-day / 3-night visit. there are three components to this property... the inn, the motel, and the carriage suites. we had an ocean view room in the inn (#7). it was picture perfect. the mix of color and design gave the inn an eclectic and comfortable feel - very well done. i liken it to staying at a bed & breakfast with the amenities and access of a luxe hotel. one caveat for future guests ... you must check-in at the congress hotel directly across the street first. throughout the weekend we noticed others make the same mistake we had - after schelpping our bags up the stairs we saw the sign on the door alerting us to the check-in process. but it's wasn't a big deal, most people drive so you're not quite tuckered out, though we had walked from the welcome center / ferry shuttle. luckily, it gave one person the opportunity to cool their jets on the porch, while the other interacted with a very courteous staff and got the low-down on the hotel's services. great location as well!

My husband and I stayed at the Star Inn this past weekend for a quiet, relaxing getaway before our first child is born. We stayed at the inn based on it's tripadvisor reviews, which have never let us down! The location was great. One block from the beach, right next door to a coffee shop/internet cafe and within steps to ice cream, cafes, and shopping. The beach was a little too cool/windy to enjoy, but we could see it right outside of our window and Congress Hall has beach chairs, umbrellas, and food service right on the beach available to guests of the Star Inn.

We stayed in room 2 on the second floor. It was the smallest room in the inn, but enough room for us. It was very clean, quiet and cozy. The Aveda products were wonderful, I couldnt stay out of the shower! I would definitely stay here again and would advise friends and family to do the same. Cape May was such a clean, quiet, peaceful and friendly place to be. Just what we were looking for!
