“The Star Inn is a superstar!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2006

Just got back from a relaxing weekend in Cape May, and The Star was the biggest reason. The inn has the laid-back upscale look as its sister property, Congress Hall, but much quieter. Clever use of space, especially on the 3rd floor, made it fun and comfortable. And you have to just smile at the leopard print carpeting - perfect!
On the advice of a fellow TA poster we took room #6 at the top of the stairs on the third floor. Worth every penny! Ocean views, and high enough that you can hear the waves crash on the beach at night. You get to use the CH amenities without having to deal with the crowds in the main hotel, and they offer room service!

What a great place! We stayed in a first floor unit and had a secluded little patio off of the "master" bedroom, and a front porch with a swing and rocker. The rooms were very clean and the complimentary shampoos, etc. were not your normal motel fare. The staff was also very professional and courteous. Will definitely stay here again!

This was the most adorable place I can recall staying...cozy, beach house feel. We LOVED it and will be sure to return. The staff was very friendly and the Blue Pig Tavern served amazing food! Overall, it could not have been a more pleasant stay! Plus, the prices are GREAT!

My husband and I stayed at the Star in the first week of August. This was our first stay (in the hotel part), as we were longtime guests of the Sandpiper Beach Inn down Beach Ave., near the Lifeguard building. Unfortunately, the Sandpiper was sold this year and no longer operates as an Inn. Compared to the Sandpiper, the Star came up short in some respects: the view of the ocean is oblique at best and the room, while nicely appointed, was much smaller than our accomodations at the old Sandpiper. All this for double the price of the Sandpiper! On the plus side, the Star is conveniently located, the room was very clean and the staff is friendly and efficient. Be advised that the Star/Congress Hall allows children (the Sandpiper did not), so if it's peace and quiet you're seeking, you may not find it here (especially at the pool...).

My wife and I stayed at the Star Inn the last week in April, 2005. What a nice place! We were on the top floor in room 7 -- romantic room with a very nice view of the ocean. Indiviually controlled AC. Very clean and nicely furnished. Free Internet access; a good TV and nice bathroom. I would stay there again; the service was top-notch. I would highly recommend the Star Inn. The Inn maintains charm -- but is very hip and modern.

We stayed in room #7 for three days in mid-June and had a wonderful, romantic time. The ocean view, exceptionally comfortable bed, Aveda toiletries, and mini-fridge were all very much appreciated! We loved the inn's old-fashioned yet hip decor--very cool. We spent the late afternoons enjoying pre-dinner drinks on the front porch, looking out at the beach and the passerby.

Unfortunately, the inn's coffee shop wasn't open for the season yet (which no one told us), but the breakfast vouchers were good for $14/day toward two breakfasts at the Blue Pig, which serves delicious food. We also weren't told that we could use the free Congress Hotel umbrellas and deck chairs on the beach, so we paid to rent an umbrella at another section of the beach on our first day--grr! But other than those minor things, we loved the Star Inn and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We were in Cape May attending my cousins beautiful wedding. We stayed at the Star Inn 3 nights the first week of June. We had reserved room #6 after hearing it was the best. Right on. We had a very late arrival on our first night due to a pit stop at the Borgata. We called ahead and told them we would not be arriving until about 1am. No problems at all. Quick easy check in. We were given a code to the main door of the Inn, which is great for security. You must know the code even to enter the building. The Star is located directly across the street from the main building Congress Hall and is about one block or so from the beach. Our room had a nice view of the beach(although no balcony)and the bed and linens were lovely. A nice touch also are the Aveda toilletries. Only thing I would have liked is a small fridge in the room to keep my water cold. However there is an ice bucket and a machine down behind the builing to use. We seemed to be the only ones there it was so quiet and peaceful. Very enjoyable stay! Also the Inn gives breakfast vouchers to use either at the coffe shop down stairs or at the Blue Pig over at Congress Hall. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Star Inn again if given the opportunity. Although it rained during 90% of our stay the Star Inn brightened up our stay!
