This might be my favorite walk in Cape May-
We visited CM in early Oct.. specifically over the rainiest Oct days ever!!-- with the remnants of "Karen" passing through. Even though the weather was wet and windy the meadows were still beautiful. Yes- it was muddy- and we had to dress in multiple layers for the wind that would be present on one side and not the other- but the walk was an easy mile or mile and half walk to some great views of many water birds, shore birds, raptors and sparrows. We went early morning- afternoon- and again early evening. Not sure which time was our favorite but here’s a few of the birds we saw in our brief visits- 3 kinds of herons, more raptors than I could keep track of, sparrows –I ‘m not so good on those little brown jobs but I think along with the song, and swamp I saw a nelsons. Egrets, those darn swans, American and Eurasian wigeons, a variety of ducks, and a Great Horned Owl. But even if I would have not seen so many birds-it was a beautiful place to just walk and be in nature. Wear hiking shoes or mud shoes if you go after it rains. Part of the walk is on the beach.
