“VERY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

Wasn't sure what to expect for the price but this was a great choice for the price!!!... $99.00!!! and across from the beach.!!! We couldn't get the oceanview room, had the townview room, but it still had the balcony that overlooked the street behind the hotel. It was still a nice view of the homes with lots of trees, and what a sunrise! The room was clean, simply decorated with NO musty smells. It had pots & pans, dishes, glassware, etc., mini fridge, & electric stove top. The bed was comfortable and the continental breakfast was fabulous... better than I had expected!!! It was close to shopping and restaurants and because it was in October, it was not as crowded and SO relaxing! We had a GREAT time and would definitely go back! The only suggestion that I would make would be to have exhaust fans in the bathroom. It helps to keep the mirror from steaming and, sometimes there are odors you want to get out QUICKLY!

Room Tip: 3rd floor room had better views even if you couldn't get the ocean view. It's on the same fl...

Having never visited Cape May, we were unaware of the hustle and bustle that visits this area of New Jersey, particularly during what most consider the "off-season". The weekend of our visit, the hotels and B&B's close into town (and especially those near the beach), were either booked solid or out of reach of our pocket book. Fortunately, the Palace Hotel fit both perfectly! Across the street from the beach and a short stroll into the commercial heart of the town, what more could you want? The room was clean and spacious. The complementary breakfast offered a nice variety. The staff were warm and friendly. The building is a four-story shoe box with only a few rooms facing the beach, but all rooms appeared to have a small balcony were you could step out and enjoy the sea air and maybe even a limited view of the ocean. And the price? A pleasant surprise for those on a budget.

excellent hotel!! the staff are very nice, and the manager allyne is charming, best hotel ever!! the other review was not written by me and i am retracting the information because it was untrue; especially the information regarding rosemary was a lie, and i am speaking as a personal witness.

Room Tip: all rooms are the amazing!! the cleaning service is great!!

we enjoyed our stay, we booked at the last minute and the owner gave us a discount..the room and bathroom was very clean, the free breakfast was nice and the hotel is right across from the beach..I did not notice any odors as previously posted by someone..In fact I didn't see anyone with pets, although they do allow them..Cape May is pricey anyway - so I had no complaints!

We booked this room at the last minute glad we did.

PROS easy check in, friendly staff, free parking, free continental breakfast, kitchenette with microwave, fridge, stove and coffee pot, almost forgot its right across from the beach.

CONS i smelled a faint whiff of urine not sure if it was human or animal. You have to step into the shower witch was a little hard with my dodgy right knee. no Mac machine

Overall my Wife and I enjoyed our stay here.

the first day the employee rosemary hit my car and tried to escape from the accident. after that, the staff treated us horrible!! the hotel is very outdated!! the shower is very tight and small and im pretty skinny so imagine that. the bed is very hard. old Carpet, the tv and the internet is operate by Comcast which sucks, because the tv never works, then the internet will never have connections and the sad thing is the front desk said they been having this problem for years but are too cheap to change it! i was told from other hotels they were suppose to have renovation in the hotel years ago but are too cheap too. the breakfast is not good. the only good thing is your walking distance from the beach. The price of the hotel is not worth a penny, dont waste your time and $! the bed sheets dont get changed and they are very cheap with the shampoo's and soap. another thing the hotel smell like dog and crap.

Room Tip: dont stay in palace hotel

The room was nice enough, old with it's age showing. It had a kitchenette, but we didn't need one for one night. There really wasn't a lot of extra room with a king sized bed in the room. TV OLD style box, pillows very hard, bathroom adequate. This hotel was right across the street from the beach but most of the building was perpendicular to the beach. We couldn't see the ocean from our room without opening the balcony door (because of the angle.) Pricey..but most of Cape May is...

Room Tip: In Season Cape May is pricey. If your willing to walk to the beach there are much better rates. Howe...
