Last year we booked a special deal through Living Social which included 2 nights at Carroll Villa. Then along came Sandy. We were unable to reschedule within the time frame to get our deal. Kathi, the manager worked with me, understood our circumstances and gave me credit toward a future stay. We stayed there last weekend. It was a very unexpected and thoughtful surprise to find balloons and candy in our room, marking a special occasion I mentioned to Kathi in passing during our conversation months ago!
We stayed in room 20 in the annex, first floor with private porch. The room is adorable. Here's the down side. It's on the first floor of the annex. You walk through a door in front of the restaurant into a small alcove. The same alcove contains the stairwell to the rest of the annex rooms. The sound of footsteps up and down the stairs, conversation outside our door in the small space didn't do much for our sense of privacy.
The pillows on our bed were hard, but since we never asked for softer ones, I don`t know if that was an option. Next time we may bring our own, no great feat since we live in state.
The porch would be great in warmer weather. There's room for four and now and then a horse drawn carriage clip clops by.
Every meal at the Mad Batter on the premises is delicious. Probably the best breakfast of any bed and breakfast in town.
I would follow the tips offered by other reviewers when choosing a room.
I still highly recommend this place for their great location equidistant from the beach and Washington St. Mall, for their excellent service, fabulous restaurant and extreme thoughtfulness.
