Stayed here last week while in the area on business. This hotel was close to our appointment, and had a good corporate rate. I was very pleasantly surprised by the immediate surrounding area - very nice and clean, and in the midst of a couple of brand new shopping centers, and there were several restaurants very close by. Also nice was the hotel's proximity to the Bridgewater train station. It's not even a mile away - about a 15-minute walk, and there are sidewalks all the way. I flew into Laguardia (cheaper than EWR), and took the train from NY Penn Station to Bridgewater - only $18.75 round trip! The hotel does not have a shuttle van, so if you do take the train, you will have to walk to the hotel. There are cabs at the previous station (Bound Brook), so you can get off there, and cab it to the hotel (about 10 minute ride). The hotel is right off 287, so easy access to anywhere in NJ from here - it's also fairly centrally located.
The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the manager-types were good at recommending restaurants in the local area. They sent us to Cial Bella, and it was very good. Also - the first night, I ordered delivery room service - there is a service that will deliver from one of about 10 restaurants in the area - there is a menu book in your room - and they will just charge it to your room - that was GREAT. I ordered over the phone, and they delivered it in about 30 minutes, and set it all up for me. Fantastic benefit if you don't want to drive around or eat in the hotel restaurant.
This is a Hilton Garden Inn, and they all seem to look alike - which is OK, not a lot of difference between properties, but this one was nice and clean. Plus a very nice benefit is that they put out a huge plate of big cookies every day at around 5pm. That was nice. The breakfast buffet is also standard HGI, but selection is decent - continental or full buffet - and if you get continental (nothing hot), then the charge is $3 or $4 less than the full buffet.
The hotel had an exercise room and indoor pool at one end of the first floor just off the lobby. Both were nice, ample room in the pool area, and the fitness room was small, but did have 2 treadmills, a nautilus weight set, and a stair-stepper.
All in all, a very good place to stay, but the caveats are - you pretty much need a car to get anywhere (a couple of restaurants and a SuperTarget within walking distance), and typical HGI look and feel, but very clean, and friendly helpful staff make it worth staying here again.
