“Check out these rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014

My boyfriend and I and another couple recently stayed overnight at the inn. It was fabulous!! Being the off off season we had the whole inn to ourselves. The inn keepers, Betty and Merle told us to check out all the rooms and chose the ones we wanted. This was great since we had a chance to view each room and discover what was special about each. Every room has a different theme and is decorated to enhance the theme. We chose the Asian room with the wonderful hot stone bathroom floor which really added to the feeling of being in an Asian country. Our second choice was the Opulent room which was decorated in gold and had beautiful Klimt paintings on the walls. Our friends chose the Dome room which was located on the top floor and had a magnificent domed ceiling over their bed. There is also a Garden room, Blur room and Aviary room. 8 rooms in total, each with a luxurious private bath. We were served a delicious breakfast with everything cooked to order, nothing prepackaged or frozen. The presentation was culinary magazine worthy. Since it was a special occasion they also served us a special dinner of smoked prime rib. We were blown away. Since I have certain dietary restrictions, they took that into consideration and made everything so that I was able to eat it. Betty and Merle are friendly, personable, funny and very professional. I would give this my highest rating.

Room Tip: Look on line and chose from the pictures.

Who loves beaches in Winter? My wife and I are two of the slightly off people that enjoy the sea and the sand in the off season. Our beach of choice is Long Beach Island, a seventeen mile jewel off the Jersey shore. We've been coming down to LBI for many years. During the summer when driving up South Atlantic Avenue, we saw the beautiful Victorian haunches of the Williams Cottage Inn. We decided a few weeks ago to book a stay during New Year's Eve. We were greeted by Bette and her husband Merle who put their midwestern charm and hospitality on display into everything they do. The Inn is divided into 8 rooms. Each room has a theme and are exquisitely appointed with lush queen and king size beds, large fluffy pillows, and the most impressive bathrooms in any B&B we've been in. We stayed in the Asian room, a room complete with a Japanese soaking tub and a separate steam shower. Nothing is more invigorating than a long walk on the beach followed by defrosting one's toes in a hot soaking tub where the water comes up to your chin as you sit, close your eyes, and relax. Other rooms are the Blue Room, the Dome room ( it's the vaulted octagonal turret of the Victorian with the best views of the ocean - one block to the East), the Aviary Room, the Garden room, the Opulent room (silly name), the Angel room, and the Rose suite. The Rose suite has additional sleeping for kids or another couple. Downstairs is an enormous guest living room replete with fireplace, a library room with a PC for guest use, a large screen TV, snacks, coffee, tea, cappuchino, and chocolates. The formal dining room has access to the wrap around porch where in the spring and summer all meals are served. There is another fire place in the formal dining room. Bette and Merle are the innkeepers and they are the best kept secret on LBI. Merle does magic with the cooking and Bette does the baking. For our breakfast we were served baked pears in a pastry shell with a dollop of vanilla ice cream, similar in taste to French toast with the wonderful taste of the pears literally melting in your mouth. The next course was a vegetable omelete with bacon, fresh fruit, coffee, orange juice, and toasted bagels and bread with butter. Get Merle talking about fishing and he'll tell you all about the striped bass surf fishing and his 'Red fish' caught during a tournament. During the spring and summer you can get bicycles to explore the island, or chairs and towels for the beach. There are wonderful restaurants within walking distance. Don't forget to go to Fantasy Island, the historic amusement park and token casino. When it's warmer you can go across the street to the water park. And at one end of the island is the Barnegat lighthouse and state park. On the other end is the wildlife preserve at Holgate. This was an exceptional experience, one that you should try.

Room Tip: All rooms have air conditioning and heat. The best ocean views are in the Rose Suite and the Dome ro...

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this bed&breakfast! We have stayed at any number of b&b's over the years, but this was perhaps the best! Of course the property is beautiful, the front porch is amazing! But what really made this stay incredible were innkeepers Bette and Merle. They were the warmest, most genuine people you could ever wish to meet! Not to mention Merle is an AMAZING chef! His breakfasts were beyond delicious! I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about them! There are many beautiful places you could stay I'm sure, but what makes a visit something special are the people. And that's what will make me go back again and again! Thank you Bette and Merle for being truly amazing hosts!! Michelle&Jerry

Days of non stop work and a trip from NYC through a terrible storm were quickly put behind us by Bette's warm greeting and the charm of Williams Cottage. If you are looking for elegant and comfortable Victorian surroundings and a serene, pampered environment, Williams Cottage is the place and Bette and Merle are the perfect hosts. The Blue Room was spacious and very comfortable with a large bathroom and an inviting free standing tub. Breakfast is amazing and Bette and Merle have thought of everything you would need for your stay. Whether your plan is to be on the beach, out and about in Beach Haven, or to just soak in a warm bath and lounge about on the porch, this is the place to stay.

We don't really have words to express the amazing 3 days we had at the Inn. Not only was this a place we had dreamed of staying at for a very long time, but it far exceeded our expectations. The hospitality Merle and Bette towards us was beyond kind. They were truly a blessing to us. Breakfast was served in beautiful fashion and was DELICIOUS. You won't even need to eat lunch. The grounds and rooms were maintained beautifully by Chris, also another blessing to our stay. The Inn is a place you can feel at home and new friends feel like family. Close to the beach and everything else in Beach Haven. PERFECT spot to get away from the cares of this world and enter into a bit of heaven on earth. We miss you all and pray we will get back down in September. Praying for you and your busy summer! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We had an amazing time at the Williams Cottage. Merle and Betty were so gracious and helpful. The room was beautiful and so was the house. A beautiful restoration and soo charming. We had everything we could need for a day at the beach, we had bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas... The food was delicious! It felt like we were at a home away from home and so comfortable in our surroundings. It was my boyfriends first visit to the Jersey shore and he left with an amazing impression and is dying to come back again!

This was our second visit to Williams Cottage Inn and it didn't disappoint. The inn is impeccably clean, superbly maintained, and stunning. Our hosts, Merle and Betty, have thought of everything a guest needs including snacks, coffee, water, and bikes as well as beach towels, umbrellas and chairs. Everything is in excellent working order. Our hosts cooked up a sumptuous, beautifully presented breakfast each morning on the lovely porch that will keep you going until dinner. One morning fare included a starter of Greek yogurt, fresh fruit and pirouette cookie in a martini glass followed by a plate of french toast, egg omelette, bacon and fruit. (And all that is for one person!) Each guest room has its own personality and the inn is a short block to the beautiful, quiet beach. This is a wonderful place to stay managed by excellent innkeepers. We'll be back again and again.

Room Tip: If you can't decide which room to choose, call Betty. She'll help you figure it out.
