“Decent, but nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Ended up eating here as a party of 6 with our two 18-month old children. On the plus side, the kids menu item we ordered came out in literally three minutes after ordering. We had put in the kids order with our drinks and it arrived before the rest of us had been able to order our meals! The food was good. I had fish and chips (which was a little light on the fish portion), which was tasty. Others ordered cheeseburger sliders, scallops and another fish dish and everyone was satisfied. Only real complaint was that there were a surprising number of bugs flying around the dining room, which is quite a turn-off when trying to eat. It could have been due to the automatic sliding door that leads directly into the main dining room off of the outside bar area. This was my only other complaint since there was some live music being played out there. So each time the doors opened we would get a blast of the music while trying to have a quiet meal. I'd go again out of convenience or need, but would probably look for another place to eat before this one next time I'm in town.

“Sadly disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

As usual it was our annual visit to long beach island and we had decided to try Spray Beach Inn. Although the reviews we read were mixed we are still trying to find that special place. Well it wasn't to be.
After calling ahead and requesting a first floor ocean view room we were given a room on the first floor in front of a very large sand dune so all we were able to see were the parked cars in front of us or the trucks constantly coming in unloading food for the restaurant. When arriving at the inn at about 2:30p.m (check in time is 3:00 p.m.) we were told our room was not ready and they will call us when it was. Exactly at 2:55 pm we got our call which to us was a little surprising since check out was ll:00 a.m.. THen upon entering the room we noticed flies which no matter how many you got rid up some were always there. On the beach everyone was getting eaten up and in disgust were leaving the beach area. Food was adequate and the frozen drinks tasted as if no licquer was in them. THe rooms were clean but cleaning service was a call as needed so if you didn't tell them to make the beds or give you clean towels you didn't get it done. THe inn does have an elevator which is really uncommon at the shore. So if you go make sure you take the third floor to see the ocean as some of the second floor was also blocked by a sand dune. Good luck.

“Manager should be fired”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2012

This experience was horrid. My family and I went there for Sunday brunch, about 10 of us. There was another party of 12 and a few smaller tables. We had to wait over an hour for our food, then when the food came, the orders were all messed up, with wrong sides. One in our party had to repeat her order a few times, and they never got it right. The worst part was the manager. She kindly and sweetly went to one man dining alone and offered him free mimosas and finally his whole bill on the house, for waiting so long, when we'd be waiting twice as long as he had. My sister and I were within listening distance and were appalled. When we asked to talk to her, she gave us such an attitude and only offered 10% off our bill. I don't know if she's single and was using this as an opportunity to flirt or something, but that's unacceptable. We shouldn't have had to wait for cold, incorrect food, and we shouldn't have had to deal with her attitude because we overheard her favoritism to another customer.

“Continuously good - I look forward to returning...”

Lunch at the outdoor bar and happy hour inside are some of the hidden secrets - the restaurant is good also, but we enjoy the less formal beach atmosphere.

“A very special place but overpriced and in need of renovation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2011

We love it here, can't stress that enough. Location is A+ and restaurant is pretty tasty and has a nice Margaritaville vibe if you sit outside. But the rooms really are in need of an update and upgrade. At any price...but especially at these prices! All that said, as I write, my family is in the car on our way back to Spray Beach Inn for the second time this summer. We look forward to it every year.
