I've been eating here on and off for about 35 years and don't have any complaints. I was surprised by all the negative reviews.
I can't vouch for the formal dining menu (there are two rooms - the bar/booth side and the formal dining area), but every sandwich I've ever ordered - pizza included - was fine. Most recently I had the crab cake sandwich, which was tasty, and sweet potato fries, which were excellent. The waitress was attentive and pleasant, a college student.
I like the atmosphere on the casual side. Sports on overhead televisions and a bar crowd of locals that seem to know each other. Sometimes there is live entertainment. It's a friendly place with decent food and reasonable prices for Long Beach Island. If you're looking for a memorable establishment with a sophisticated menu, there are better choices on the island. For a decent burger and brew, Buckalew's is fine!
