If you're on LBI it's definitely worth the drive to the westernmost portion of the island to visit the lighthouse. The climb, though a little cramped, is manageable for families with small children. While the climb was fun, and is definitely a must-do while at LBI, my favorite time to visit is at sunset when you get the perfect view of the lighthouse with the setting sun in the background. There are a bunch of picnic tables right next to the lighthouse by the water that are great for eating lunch/dinner at and enjoying the view.
