“Barnegat Motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2011

I have stayed there a couple times before and have been very satisfied. We plan to stay again this June, 2011. We travel with 2 dogs and one cat and usually have an efficiency that serves us all well. We used to live in the area, so we know it well. Usually come in a car so we eat in or out. There is a restaraunt within walking distance, can't vouch for it because we never ate there. With a good walk, there is a Deli and Pizza place. For exercise, I walk to the light south of the Motel and through the community behind those establishments. We plan to visit NJ many more times and would gladly stay in the Barnegat Motel again. The proprietors are friendly and nice as well as the accomodations suiting us very well. Joyce Stengel, Cape Coral, Florida

That's a lot of money to pay for no amenities....no clock in the room, no telephone, a pedestal table with the top (a very heaven top) broken off that nearly fell off when I touched it. The shower was barely more than a trickle and it took forever to rinse off the soap. There were no pens, no paper, no coffee maker. The room had a glass door that anyone could see through. And the best part....here it comes.....no heat! We complained to the owners and finally ended up with a tiny electric heater that failed during the night! We had to walk down the road to a restaurant to get coffee in the morning. And the owner was so surprised when we checked out the next morning to go stay somewhere else. For $4 more, after applying the AAA discount, we got a hotel with comfortable beds, telephones, room service, coffee maker in the room (with coffee and tea), a wonderful shower, lovely heat, a restaurant downstairs in the lobby, an indoor pool and spa and an exercise room! Was it worth the move? O yes!

It looks like they put some effort into keeping this place clean but it is clearly dilapidated and not worth the $84 we paid. The room was big, the bed was acceptable, and there was a small refrigerator, but the wireless Internet did not work in our room (too far from the router, we were told). Also, the towel rack fell right off the wall and my 2-year old daughter found a rodent trap behind a curtain. Fortunately, the latter event happened on the morning of our departure or else I don't think I would have been able to spend the night. I suggest paying the extra 20 bucks and staying at the Holiday Inn on Route 72.

We stayed at the Barnegat Motel for one night traveling through the state of Delaware. The price was the best for the area. The room was large but dated. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was spotless but the hot water was not hot and the shower was cold in a very short period of time. I was pulling a car trailer and the parking lot was big enough to accommodate both truck and trailer.

Rude owners. No ice, no soda machine, no hairdryers, rooms are a little stinky. And, again, very rudy and unfriendly owners. And wireless does not work even though they say they have it.

My nephew and I were in the Little Egg Harbor area on business and it wasgetting very late on Saturday night. Could not find ANY motels near that town, stumbled into a new Holiday Inn and found their price too high, but their desk clerk knew of a more affordable alternative and even made the call for us. It is 4 miles north of the Route 72 and US-9 intersection, price for a Saturday night was $89 and included all taxes and fees.
We stayed in the second floor of the second building and found the queen size bed were very good -- much better than falling asleep while driving!

  • Liked — it was available
  • Disliked — distance to Little Egg Harbor where we had a business deal to complete.

This is a great motel! My whole family enjoyed staying at this execptional motel. It was much better than Seapine Inn where we stayed the day before we stumbled apon this great motel. It was better that it wasn't on the island because of all the traffic. Even though it isn't on the island its only a 10-15 minute drive. Everything was much cleaner then I expected, considering it was a motel. The service was excellent and it was very convienent that Sweet Jennys was only a 1.5 minute walk! All in All it was a great experience for my family. I highly recomend bring your family to this excellent motel.
