“a rare find with delicious cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

This family owned and operated Italian restaurant is well worth any detour. The food is superbly prepared, using only fresh ingredients. Everything is made by the chef-owner himself, taking no shortcuts with recipes. Some of the items on the menu take some time to prepare because the intricate recipes are made from scratch while you wait. But any wait is rewarded with melt-in-your mouth dishes. Moreover, this has always been the case: my husband and I have been coming to this restaurant for almost twenty years and we have never left disappointed. I recommend having a starter, a main dish and a dessert: from beginning to end, your meal will surely be memorably excellent.

“Absolutely Awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2011

For a table of five, nothing was good. The place was empty except for us and another table, and it took over an hour to get our food. Yuck!

“Unexpected Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2011

We went to La Meridiana at the recommendation of the hosts at the B&B where we were staying and had a wonderful evening. The daily specials were fantastic (roasted beet salad lobster ravioli). We look forward to going back again, on our next visit to the area.

“If you can't go to Italy import the experience with a meal at La Meridiana”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2011

Wonderful, fresh and delicious meal. The service was excellent with great attention to detail. We were the only people in the restaurant which gave us the feeling of being lord and lady of the manor. Old world charm, warm interior and a host/owner who takes great pride in his work.
Some of the questions presented after the review are totally subjective. I can not speak for other people, but I found the experience valuable, romantic, and charming. The decor both interior and exterior is rustic, the meal, service, value, and pride in work outstanding.

“A bit of heaven from Italy in rural New Hampshire”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2010

I once visited a superb restaurant in an out-of-the-way town in the Piedmont region of Italy called Nieve. "Why?" I asked the owner-chef "would you place a restaurant of such superb caliber ?" He said, "because this is where I live!"

Much the same can be said of Piero Carnutto and La Meridiana Ristorante in Wilmot New Hampshire. This an unassuming house-like structure on State Route 11 near Intersate 89 between the college town (Colby Sawyer College) of New London, NH and the prepatory school town (Proctor Academy) of Andover, New Hampshire. It is also between the state capital, Concord and the Hanover, the home of Dartmouth College.

Why write about this restaurant? Because it is the nearest thing to Italy heaven that one can experience. The food is either grown by the owner-chef Piero, himself or purchased locally from an organic farm. The preparation is superb. The beet salad with tomato and mezuma is rich in flavor but not overwhelming. The produce is fresh and extremely tasty. The beets are served with some of the skin on them preserving the nutritive value of the vegetable without sacrificing flavor or texture. Piero is a stickler for allowing the fresh flavors to come through yet offering the best of natural produce in its most basic form.

The prosciutto and fresh figs are heavenly with the salty/sweet combinatin coming through.

The pasta is homemade as is the pesto sauce. And what pesto sauce!!! The basil is sweet wtih no bitterness. The pignoli are not roasted but left in their raw state. The addition of olive oil, garlic and Reggiano Parmagiano cheese is just right.

The main meal consisted of chicken Val D'astona style (which is where Piero is from) for my wife and roasted veal filet with herbs for myself. Both were excellent and were served with roasted potatoes and vegetables cleaned perfectly but not skinned so as to remove their essence and flavors. There was also roasted potatoes.

Desert was an assortment of cheeses and pear and tomatoes and fresh figs. Finally the pannacota was soft and the sweetness of the custard was excellently balanced by the fresh raspberry preserves.

This restaurant is superb in every way. The wine list is very ample and there is a full bar as well. The prices are extremely reasonable and the service is exellent.
