We were camping in the Twin Mountain area and with the way the weather was during our visit we decided to eat out most evenings. We visited Grandma's Kitchen on three occasions, opting for one of the daily specials each time.

The prices ranged from $6.95 to $9.95 for the items we selected. They were fish and chips, turkey and pork. All except the fish and chips came with the choice of a side salad or a cup of soup. The clam chowder was very good. One night I opted for dessert. The apple pie was delicious.

We found the food good, the portions large and the service fast and friendly.

If you are trying to find it using the Navteq database in your gps you will be directed to a church in Whitefield. The restaurant is actually just outside Whitefield on route 3 noth of town.

I had neglected to eat here the last time I was in the area, and after a high recommendation decided to try Grandma's.

Although the service was a little slow, even for New England, our waitress was very friendly and accommodating.

We soon realized that the food took a long time to get to us because it was practically made from scratch. Or at least it tasted that way. I had the all you could eat fish fry, and because of the tremendous portion of fries and a nice helping of slaw, could only eat two pieces. But they were the best two pieces of fried haddock I've ever eaten.

Dinners come with a soup or salad, and my friend had the clam chowder, which was superb. Her son had a heaping poriton of jumbo fried shrimp, which was delicious.

The bill came to about $45 for the three of us, which included drinks and two incredible desserts, which arrived instantly. Well worth the money, and the wait, which wasn't too bad, actually.

I highly recommend this place for anyone who is in the area.

We were staying in nearby Twin Mountain, New Hampshire and were looking for a restaurant that was reasonable priced, close by and had some homemade cooking. Our motel recommended Grandma's in Whitefield which was about 10 miles away. It is conveniently located near the town center and appears to attract mostly locals. We felt like we were being stared down when we entered. We visited for both dinner and breakfast, although the breakfast seems to be their specialty. Although providing a home style cooking, the attitude of wait-staff certainly didn't seem too family-oriented. It was very slow and inattentive service. We sat at an uncleaned table for about 15 minutes before the waitress decided she was ready to clear our table from the previous guests. The wait staff definitely appeared to favor the locals. The food was average--nothing to write home to Grandma about. The prices were reasonable, but not worth the inattention and wait. Try another place.
