Do you remember the movie "The Shining"? This place isn't much of a step up. It's dark and creepy. So far the place seems abandoned and for good reason. It appears to have needed renovations in 1977, which still haven't been done. Plus, it's the summer and WV is a winter resort.
For five nights and over 1k, I expect far better. I couldn't imagine a place like this could exist in such a beautiful area. The bathroom has a large tub, but the shower is about 18 inches square, and came w/ someone's used bar of soap. The smell--musty is a nice way of putting it. The furnishings are filthy. Chairs are dirty and full of holes, something you wouldn't even buy at a Goodwill store. The ceiling in our room has obvious water damage, which could be hidden w/ a well needed coat of paint. Our bed, is just a mattress on a frame, no headboard, nothing.
I'm sure it was a lovely hotel many years ago, but it has been neglected. Even the elevator is creaky. The hallways are barely lit and the lights seem to flicker on and off. There is pretty much no staff around, especially if you come after 5 pm. They just leave your key sitting out on the front desk. And even when you do encounter an employee, they've been pretty much useless. So far no one has said hi and when I finally found someone to speak to, they claimed to have no idea where the ice machine was.
Not a bad place if you have no intention of spending much time in your room...or if you have a thing for early 80s decor. Otherwise, stay at any of the other surrounding properties. The rooms at the Town Center are far nicer and have complete kitchens.
On the plus side, we have a loft area for the kids and our room could sleep 6. You also receive a pass to use all the area recreation.

My name is Dana Coletti. I am the president of the NH Postal Workers Union. I hosted my first state convention at the Snowy Owl Inn. It was a confusing and stressful proceess for me not without it's share of Snafu's. The staff at the Snowy Owl Inn was there at every turn to assist me in what I needed. From room reservations to golf accomodations every issue was resolved quickly and to my satisfaction. It being my first convention, I certainly had my share of questions about how all of it worked. The staff was always there to answer any concern I had. In addition the amenities were plentiful and the dinner Saturday night was over the top!! Special thanks to Steve and Tracy for making our experience a memorable one. I would recommend them to anyone and plan on using them in the future.

Stayed at the Inn with a youth hockey tournament. We all booked the dinner pasta buffet and movie for the kids. However, there was no movie and the food was absolutely awful. A few in our party were actually feeling sick to their stomach that night. The staff denied that we were promised a movie, but emails prove otherwise. My biggest pet peeve was the condition of the rooms. They were disgusting. The bathroom floor hadn't been washed in what looked like weeks, there was dust everywhere, the floors were not vacuumed, and the towels were awful. Even the common areas were stuffy and unclean. Most of all the staff was very unfriendly and very intolerant of children. WIth a hotel full of children there will be some noise and playing in the common areas. Our kids were well-behaved and contained but were at times a bit noisy during the days. However, they were in bed by 10:00PM (two nights they were in bed even earlier due to games the next day) and did not destroy anything or keep anyone up at night. This inn should not be catering to hockey tournaments or families with children for that matter. For $250 per night for a long weekend this was a waste of money. If you want a clean, friendly place to spend your vacation, go somewhere else!

We were excited to get a ski/stay package for a great price and were understanding for some inconvenicences because there were only 3 rooms booked in the whole inn during our stay (non-working ice machine one day, no afternoon wine and cheese like they advertised on their website, cold old muffins in a basket for continental breakfast, no heat in the hallway/breakfast room, broken ATM machine, blk/wht printout of a fire taped on the non-working fireplace).
HOWEVER, after we got home we realized that we had left our swimsuits in the bathroom and contacted the lobby about it. It took them 2 days to call us back to tell us that no one had seen them. There were only 3 rooms to clean. How hard could it be to track them down? Make sure to check your shower curtain rods before you leave this unhelpful hotel as it appears to be a swimsuit black hole!
Years ago I stayed here with my family and was excited to come back to this inn and am now quite displeased to discover how much it has dropped in quality and comfort. We will not be returning to Snowy Owl Inn when we ski at Waterville Valley.

We were so happy with our stay at The Snowy Owl Inn. We used the Inn for our wedding - all of our guests stayed at the Inn, and we did, too. The staff was helpful from the very start of our planning. They gave a great discount for our guests and provided a way for them to register online or by calling the hotel. They were gracious with all of our guests as they arrived, were extremely accomodating and flexible, and *everyone* was happy with the rooms and facilities. The Snowy Owl provided the New Hampshire mountain-town experience we were looking for. The hotel staff was also especially helpful with our wedding planning, assisting us in finding resources in the area. We whole-heartedly recommend the Inn for anyone simply traveling for a cozy weekend in the White Mountains, or for couples looking to provide their guests with a unique wedding-weekend experience.
