“Lacking Customer Service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

I booked this hotel because I saw it on the groupon website. I thought it would be a fun, little getaway from the city. The inn is located at the Water valley Resort Ski area. Very nice little resort, with shops and restaurants. We did go at the beginning of the ski season, so it was very quiet. The inn itself was very nice; we were probably one of the only guests in the whole place. My issue is not with the inn, or the room, it is with the lack of customer service. The girl that checked us in, was ok, but I kind of got the sense that she either didn’t' like her job, or was just bothered that were there so early in the ski season, I guess. She gave us mediocre information about the ski resort; we ended up waiting outside in the freezing rain for the shuttle because she told us it would come every "15 minutes", when apparently it wasn't running at all. We also asked to be moved to a balcony room, and she stated that "they were all booked", we were the only ones in the hotel! Loll! Usually things like this don't bother me, but seeing how we were treated so negatively made it easier for me to decide not to ever come back to this place. It is a shame because it really is a nice place to stay, the rooms are huge, the views are beautiful, but the way in which they run their facility is lacking the obvious, good customer service!!

every summer we take a family trip to the cape but this year wanted to try something different...and i am glad we did! having fun with the 5 kids and keeping them busy is important on a vacation- although we love the beach, sitting there everyday all day for 7 days can get a little boring for them. i also feel like when we are in the cape, its kind of a big process to pack the 5 kids up to take them out to do activities. and that is what i loved about the valley inn- if we wanted to swim, there was a pool right there, want the beach- its right there. any activity we wanted to do was right in the center, which was either a very short walk down the street or a trolley ride! and there is endless activities to choose from- paddleboats, mountain biking, a skate park, beading, bouncy houses, ice skating, ziplining, scavanger hunts, fireworks, story time!!! there really was something for everyone at any time of the day!
we stayed in a 2bedroom suite, we are a family of 7 and there was more than enough room. the living room was large w/a large eating area, and had a great flat screen tv for movies at night. the master bedroom had enough room for us to set up a pack and play, 2 kids on the twin beds in the other room, and 2 kids on the pull out...more than enough space!
the staff was always friendly and willing to help with whatever our needs were. everything felt clean as well.
i would highly recommend this inn to everyone, so worth the trip and the kids are so excited to go back next year.

Room Tip: we had a corner room and it had a large beautiful deck off of the living room. perfect for morning b...

The valley inn of years ago was great. The valley in that we stayed at recently had changed. The woman at the desk told us they had changed things about 5 years ago. (ie: took out the indoor/outdoor pool, jacuzzi). The room was old and tattered. The sleeping accomodations were 2 full size beds upstairs (beds felt about 20 years old, matress uncomfortable, and bed frame shook every time you moved). The downstairs fold out couch was a thin and dirty. We found crumbs and a dollar bill in it as soon as we opened it (how long since it had been cleaned)? The television was something from the 1980's, and unless you only had two peope in the room, there was no room to sit and watch it. When we asked about the cafe' that they used to have, and that their website said was still there, the woman at the front desk said it closed down about 2 years ago. Her statement was "just because its on the website, does not mean it is open"! Mind you, the sign out front also says "fine dining"...Also, when we made reservations on their website, they said they were running a "special", buy one night, get one night free. The One night was $300.00.... Until we got to waterville valley, we did not know that $150.00 was the going rate of any suite at any hotel in the valley, so their "buy one night, get one free" was a scam, too. When we attempted to check out 5 minutes after getting there, we were told there would be no refunds at all. So, we stayed an uncomfortable friday night, bit the bullet on the $320.00 we paid, and went somewhere else... I have never writen a review of anything before, however I feel like I had to share my experience about this hotel. I Would never go back or reccomend this inn to anyone.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!

We stayed for three nights early in the week in the immediate post-foliage season with the hotel mostly to ourselves. The staff were really nice and very helpful. Our room was very comfortable with a separate living room and kitchen. The room and bathroom were very clean and everything worked fine. A big bonus was receiving passes to the Athletic Center down the road for free swimming, hot tubs, and other amenities--did not expect this. Really came in handy after a strenuous hike. (Strongly recommend the 4 hr Welch-Dickies hike down the road.) If the hotel had breakfast, would have rated this a 5 star. Definitely would return here, no question.

I hosted a group of quilters at The Valley Inn and I must say that I was completely pleased with our accommodations and the staff. Steve and the entire staff always seemed to be one step ahead of my requests - they thought ahead to what we might need and took care of it. The coffee was ready for us from early morning until late at night. Our meeting room was well equipped. Individual hotel rooms were clean and updated recently. It was nice to have an elevator available to bring in all our equipment. Everyone in the group seemed pleased with the Inn. The location is picturesque - it was a great location for a get-away. Everyone is excited to return again next year. I'll be back before then on a pleasure weekend!
