Because of past injuries i no longer ski, however, Waterville Valley resort has much to offer even to those of us who simply want to perambulate .
The square is chock full of small individually operated shops and cafes, where you can find just about anything from books to fashions, candles to footwear, the views are great and the people will help you with information should you need it ?.
There is a band stand where in the better weather bands entertain you and a all year round skating rink, if boating is your thing then rent a small boat, buy a sandwich and some apples and take the boat out on the lake, see the wild life.
And what looks like a castle is actually a hotel !.
You will not bored if left behind whilst other members of your party go off to ski or snow shoe.
The drive out is pleasant with views of the Granite Mountains and a short detour will bring you to Walters Basin, a natural waterfall that cascades down in a swirl of fast flowing water with hiking trails that even those not too steady on their feet can enjoy.
It costs nothing to browse and enjoy the views.
