“Pefect place for three families to get together”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2011

Two friends of ours and their families joined us at the Anchorage at the Lake. We stayed in the Farm House which was perfect for what we needed. There was plenty of room for us to spread out. A kitchen which had everything we needed and an outdoor grill and a firepit. We were able to walk down to the lake and enjoyed coffee and breakfast on the deck. We really enjoyed the complimentary canoes and paddle boat and took advantage of that on both days. The kids loved swimming out to and jumping off the dock which is one of the beaches. We sat their most of the day. We also went to the other beach and had a great volleyball game. After we were done with the beach the kids went to play ping pong and shuffle board. They were never bored. We really enjoyed ourselves and definitely plan on going back.

Thank you for your review of the the Anchorage at the Lake, it has been the general opinion this year that the families are loving the Anchorage, it is a great place for the adults to enjoy relaxing on the beach while the kids are swimming in the lake, or playing ball in the field or just sitting around the bonfire at night. It makes for an all round great vacation. Our Family Fun Packages are also great for Families with children as the coupons can be used for those rainy days and give the kids some indoor activities to do. We look forward to seeing you next year.

Thank you for your review of the Anchorage at the Lake, this is a great place for families to reunite and get together. We have many family reunions here, each family will rent a cabin for themselves and use the Farmhouse or Trapp House as the main gathering house, it all works out great. We look forward to your returning to the Anchorage.

Negative reviews on Anchorage at the Lake was a bit misleading. If you love to camping and you love Cabins this is your place. Every Cabin at Anchorage is right by the Lake, and has some thing for every one to do. It also has 3 different beaches so getting some privacy is easy to find here. You are close to shopping and restaurants, also a short drive to Weirs Beach. The Cabin had a nice good size kitchen and an outdoor grill. Cooking was very easy here with a big frig to keep all your food in. The One Bedroom cabins really have a separate Bedroom, so you can sleep while others hang out. The Cabin was cleaned and well kept, keep in mind this is a cabin. If you are used to Hotels this might not be for you. For a family vacation this place is perfect. They have free boats to use and a beautiful Deck on the lake that you can use at any time. There is also a large Fire Pit for some night time fun. Large fields and paths to take nice walks on. Anchorage on the Lake is a great place to send a few days to a week. Kids really love it here and the beaches on the Lake are beautiful and fun. By the way the water is very warm! This is a great vacation spot, I cant wait to get back there. Also the Tilton Diner is awesome! The staff is great, make your reservations today!!

Thank you so much for your kind remarks about the Anchorage, we do appreciate your input. This is a great place for families with children, the guests can take a canoe out and see what the rest of the lake is like and get some peaceful exercise at the same time.
You are correct as this is not a hotel, it is cabins much like camping and is not for everyone, but those who enjoy the outdoors and swimming in a lake, this is a great spot for that weekend getaway or week long vacation.
We certainly do hope to see you again, be sure and say Hi to us next time you are here.

We've stayed at the Anchorage at the Lake over the past 4 years. Its located right on Lake Winnisquam, and very reasonable. The cabins are not fancy, so if you're looking for a typical hotel stay you should check out the new Hampton Inn down the street. But, we enjoy being so close to the water, having our own grilling area and the sandbar on Lake Winnisquam. Its easy to get to from the highway, and minutes from Outlet shopping! We love the Anchorage, and will continue to visit every summer!

Room Tip: I would suggest calling for a cabin on the water. They dont offer these online.

My husband and I love to go camping, but now that we have a dog, its difficult in the tent. We wanted something that was still basic with better amenities than tenting. This is it! The cabins are old and there were some cobwebs, but we loved it. The grounds are beautiful and the other guests were friendly and respectful. Not much in the way of dishes - but enough for what we needed. The towels and sheets/blankets were clean, as was the fridge. We went canoeing and played bocci ball and bbq'd and stayed up late playing cards and drinking beer in our own screened porch - for us, a PERFECT weekend! Plus, when we left to play mini golf nearby, we could leave the dog in the cabin and lock the door with no worries for her health or safety. The only thing that would have made it better was our own little campfire - but the big community one was OK for marshmallows and nostalgia. THANKS!

Me and my girlfriends came up for a girls weekend. We swam in the lake, we went to weirs beach (which isnt too far) and raced on the go-carts, we did mini golf, and we cooked on the bbq! We had the best time! We had such a good time that we actually booked for 2011 to bring our husbands/boyfriends! We all can't wait to go back and have a great time!

Just remember if you go, that the nights can get chilly, we went in august and i only brought shorts and a tank to to sleep in, we had to run to old navy, (the outlets are also close!! Big plus) and buy sweat pants!

Our family started vacationing at The Anchorage in 1993 when our first child was just months old. We met families here each year who have become our closest friends. We've "worked our way up" to one of the larger cabins as our family grew up. I've always called to ask if I needed to bring anything to any place I've stayed and found out that aside from an oven, the Anchorage had everything we'd need. If our cabin didn't have it, we'd just ask the cabin neighbor next to us if they had one to borrow. Deb and her staff in the office have been very accommodating. I recommend this place for families who want a home away from home. These are cabins and are rustic and have been weathered by many years of New England but have been maintained by the staff to keep their charm of the rustic New England vacation rental cabin.

Thank you for your great review, we hear this over and over about families that have returned to the Anchorage for many years watching their children grow up and experiencing the family oriented vacations that we all used to have when we were children. We look forward to seeing you each and every year and hope to have you many years to come.
