“Super friendly staff, great views - Very nice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2008

We decided to take a spontaneous trip to Weirs Beach, NH one weekend in August. We had a great time, but did not anticipate having so much trouble finding a room at the last minute. After about an hour of driving around, it was getting dark and we were getting a bit desparate, we drove by the Country Lake and its VACANCY sign. When we walked into the office we were immediately greeted by a very friendly Kris, the manager. She had one room left, an efficiency with the two beds we needed. The room was the one that they often give to people with pets, so it was a bit run down in places. But it was CLEAN and the sheets were soft and clean. Kris went out of her way to get the extra sheets, pillows, and blankets we needed for the pullout sofa bed for the kids. She was apologetic because the blanket she gave us was a bit pilled, but it was clean and soft (and warm out of the dryer!). In the morning I got some breakfast stuff down the street at Shaws, and we made a nice quick breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast. Kris even got us a pot for boiling the leftover eggs.

All in all, it's a nice place. It was not fancy, but it was serviceable, clean, and welcoming. The view is great of Lake Winnisquam.

I spent the first 3 weeks of July ‘08 at the Country Lake Resort while in town on business and can say that I was extremely pleased overall. Besides the awesome view of Lake Winnesquam, all of the folks, from the onsite manager to the ladies that maintain your room, treat you like your one of the family. In the morning you can always depend on Mike having the coffee ready by 5:30 along with some breakfast snacks and the newspaper. There's nothing like sitting on one of their many patios’ enjoying the scenery while having coffee. Chris and Tony, the onsite managers, have done a great job making this hotel seem more like a bed and breakfast. They also have great restaurants nearby to enjoy or you can have them deliver to your hotel room. I would definitely recommend this hotel as the place to stay if you’re going to be in the Tilton, Laconia, and Gilford area. Oh, I almost forgot the Bon Fires on Friday and/or Saturday night. What a great place to hang out and enjoy the beautiful New Hampshire evening with the folks from the hotel and the rental cottages that are located behind. And the best part about all of this is you will spend half of what you would spend at a Comfort Inn! Thanks again for a great experience, Michael.

If your looking for a Friendly place to stay this is the one to stay at. At the last minute i decided to turn my day trip to Laconia Bike week into a two day one. I'm sure glad i stayed at the Country Lake Resort. Kris and her staff made me and my guest feel like part of the family. The camp fire was great and enjoyed Kris and her staffs kindness and conversation. Even offered me a beer (or 2) !!! The room was clean and the view was even better !!!! Great place, I'll be back !!!

I was looking for a place that will take a group of about 16 people for just one night and had the pleasure to come accross The Country Lake Resort.
I rented one of the Cottage and four rooms. The cottages as well as the rooms were very clean, nothing 5 stars but definetely worth the price. The staff is very frindly and tries to meet all of your needs. I will deinetely come back.
The only draw back is that it is a little far from Weirs Beach, which is were we wanted to stay, but still close enought (about 20-30 min). The drive is definetely worth it since it is a beautiful area.
The resort has a small private beach... the cottage is on the beach side of the street and the room are on the other side.

I do agree with one of the post that those are the smallest bar of soaps i have ever seen, but it did not bother me as much.
The only bad thing i have to say is that they defenetely have to upgrade the toiletries they provide. I did not mind it because i only stayed there for 2 days 1 night, but i get that it will be different if staying there for an entire week.

Over all i wil recoment staying here. The staff makes it worth while.

We stayed at the Country Lake Resort for a weekend in July. We found the place to be conveniently located at the lake and affordable, especially during a NASCAR race weekend!. The room was a bit small for three adults, but everything was clean and the air conditioning was a welcome relief after sitting in 95 degree heat all day. The staff was friendly and extremely accommodating. Fresh coffee, donuts and coffee cakes were available every morning. The place isn't "fancy", but it was a good value for our money. We would not hesitate to stay there again if Kristin is managing the property. We are already planning to reserve one of the cottages for next year!

My husband, I and our dog stayed here when our electricity went out for 2 days. We live 15 minutes away. It was late and when our electricity didn't come on we had to find lodging that would take pets. It was late and we were cold. I called and they had rooms so we went. We should have looked at the room first. We got there and the office was closed. There was a sign to go to a certain room. No one was there. We saw a grubby looking guy and asked him. He told us which room to go to. They opened the door and choked with all the smoke in the room. We finally got to the room. The rug was filthy. Was worried that my dog would catch something. The bathromm was okay but old. There were NO amenities such as shampoo etc....the smallest bar of soap I had ever seen. I smelled the towels and sheets to make sure they smelled clean. There were no glasses. Went to the owner and asked for some. We got 2 paper cups. At this point we didn't want to stay there. We called other lodging in the area and no one took pets so we stayed. We kept our socks on all the time and put towels down on the bathroom floor. Need I say more. DO NOT STAY HERE. We laugh now everytime we go by this place. Truly an experience.

The Country Lake Resort has never been a 'destination', but has always in the past been affordable, clean, and reliable. It is under new ownership, and has gone extremely downhill. I do not recommend this hotel to anybody staying in the Lakes region of NH. We should have known we were in for a bad experience when we walked in to the office to check in - there are unfriendly signs all over the place (no guests allowed, not even for 5 minutes or you will be charged, etc.). - mind you, this is not a 'resort' depsite it's name - it is a low-budget motel, but had always been a convenient place to crash at when we visited friends in NH. The rooms are no longer clean - the shower had heavy mildew buildup on the curtain. No amenities were provided - not even paper cups for the bathroom. AC was broken so there was a portable rigged up-one in our room - it looked like a dehumidifier connected to a dryer hose out the window - scary stuff! The 'cable' TV got only 4 channels . We couldn't hear it anyway with the "AC" being so loud. The bathroom was definitely a 'homemade' job - the toilet was bolted to a wooden platform OVER the tiled floor. Also my husband and I got locked IN our room and couldn't get out- the manager had to come let us out. (when we got let out of our 'cell' we left the hotel in the middle of the night because we did not feel safe, and went and slept on the couch of the friends we had been up to visit). There was a big carton of fireworks in the hallway and an open closet filled with junk (old stained mattresses, more of those dryer-hose looking things, etc.). Ashtrays outside were full and dirty. trash barrels were full. If you value your safety, do not stay at the Country Lake Resort. Next year when we go back to visit our friends, we will be staying in a tent.
