Sunset Hill House IS the best value in the White Mountains!!!
The Inn Keepers and the staff are warm and welcoming leaving no detail unattended! They were even able to find me some sunscreen to use after I forgot mine asnd found a teeny screwdriver to fix my husbands sun glasses. They go above and beyound to make you feel welcome and at home!!! Except I don't get this spoiled at home! The food and service is 5 Star! The chef combines gourment with homecooking to create the most delictable meals! Both breakfast and dinner were amazing with daily specials to look forward to! The views from every vantage point of this Inn are spectacular, the best in NH. The dining room, the pool, the golf course across the street and every room in the Inn look out over the most beautiful scenery in the White Mountains! It is a very romantic place to stay yet it is also very welcoming to families with children. We observed lots of caring and patience extended towards the young guests that were there during our stay. The beautiful and immaculate in ground pool was an inviting 85 degrees and was surrounded by a lovely wrought iron and kid safe fence. Don't miss the amazing little 9 Hole golf course right across the street! The oldest 9 Hole in NH. Although the course is short, Par 3 & 4, the up and down hills offer enough challege to make it fun. The live turkeys "bathing" in the sand traps are thrown in for Free entertainment. It isn't hard to see why Nancy and Lon have won so many awards for their impeccable INN Keeping!!! They are the best!!! This is a "DON'T MISS place to stay while in the White Mountains!!!

Don't be fooled by the website.

The Inn is far more rundown than it looks in every way possible.

My wife and I checked in to one of their suites only to find dead bugs and flies all over the bathroom floor and in the tub. No blinds or curtains on the windows. And the room in general smelled very musty.

We went downstairs within minutes and asked to check out.

At the desk was one of the owners who proceeded to tell me about the fire that they had and how it affected several of their rooms. (Mind you as a paying guest apparently to them you don't need to know any of these details unless you complain.)

We then proceeded to drive the hour plus back to the B&B we had stayed at the prior night.

All in all save your money and stay somewhere that actually looks like the website.

The cat rocks. I found this Inn to be a nice, cozy place with friendly innkeepers.

Very peaceful.

My daughter's reception was at the inn and it was very pleasant and convenient that the wedding party essentialy took over the whole place creating a real family feel for the occaision.

The food and service were all fine, the rooms perhaps a little expensive but this was a big deal for us . . . the wedding I mean of course.

Talking of courses the 9 hole golf course was being run by two charming young ladies maybe 6 and 8 years old. They were really professional even warning guests that the hand written credit card receipts had the complete card number on them and should be disposed of carefully.

As a city dweller is was amazing to have a view where at night for as far as one could see there were almost no lights, just mountains and a star studded skyscape.

I rather stay in a tent, in the desert, in Afghanistan than go back to stay at SSH. I would like to warn others of the experience I had on my 1st anniversary so that others do not waste their money and vacation time. My 1st anniversary was spent in a dirty room with loud music, door slamming, alarms, broken glasses in both the dining room and bedroom as stated in an earlier review. Our sheets were dirty as I read in other reviews and the bath tubs were very unclean. Hair collection on the faux wood floors/sticky or moist carpet. Dinner took 3 hours-which would be fine if the food was 1/2 way decent and every type of wine I asked for listed was not available. 1/2 hour for a beer and there were only four couples in the dining room. If I could have left immediatly w/o getting charged I would have-but like many others I work very hard for my vacation time and it was late. View was amazing in our room. Overall, just dissapointed and disgusted by the way the staff acted and did not apologize, how unclean it was, and how dissappointing the dining was. The dissappointment made my wife cry and she is a rock. Teenage staffers were playing heavy metal by the pool of broken beer bottles and overfilled garbage cans which they were throwing at each other. DO NOT STAY HERE!
