“Winter wonderland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

Our plans were slightly messed up from the "storm of 2013" with blizzard conditions in Maine and Massachusetts. At the last moment, we decided to try New Hampshire and came across the Lake House.

What a happy accident. This was such a beautiful place, with every last touch thought of - including snowy icicle fairy lights on the house, spotless and stunning decor, the softest most delish sheets, high quality bath products, fresh baked cookies available and complementary samples of local New Hampshire goodies, to name a few plusses. And what a nice surprise to see the Aussie flag flying outside when we showed up!

The owners Cindy and John were consummate hosts and spoiled us rotten with their caring approach and massive elaborate breakfasts, as well as their excellent tips about things to see and do locally. We would love to come back some day and experience another season with them in lovely New Hampshire. Nothing was a problem, with John even helping me to arrange local yummy foodie goodies to be sent back to me in Australia.

What a wonderful place - I have told many friends in Australia about the Lake House.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review. This last Winter was the first Winter that the Lake House at Ferry Point was open. Previously it had been only a seasonal Inn. We are so glad you found us and are so glad that you had a wonderful time. We look forward to seeing you again when your travels bring you back to New England!

My wife and I have now stayed @ The Lake House on 2 occasions since July of 2012. This time (4/12 & 4/13/13) was to celebrate our "44th" Anniversary. We have thoroughly enjoyed both our stays and certainly will return again and also would/will highly recommend this beautiful B&B to any of our family/friends/and others who may be looking for a great/relaxing place to get away from their everyday schedules for a couple of days of rest/relaxation.

John& Cindy, the owners/innkeepers, go out of their way to make their guests feel @ home and do a great job with attention to little details such as: asking guests for their opinion; homemade cookies; coffee/tea available @ all times; candies on the front desk; fire lit in fireplace; guest room amenities; pleasant atmosphere; delicious/beautifully presented breakfasts.

Again, we love our visits to The Lake House and highly recommend the same for all who are truly looking for a great, relaxing, and enjoyable experience.

Dave & Donna,
Marlboro, MA.

Dave & Donna,

It was great seeing you again. Congratulations, once again, on your anniversary! And thank you for your review. We really enjoy having guests return so that we can show them all the changes we have made since their last stay. We were glad to have several to show you two :-) I will get that cookie recipe that you asked for posted on our blog this week!

John and Cindy Becker are quintessential hosts (not to mention chef and decorator)! The lovely Inn becomes more and more reflective of their comfortably beautiful style. We first visited the Lake House in the summer and thoroughly enjoyed their across-the-street access to the lake (and their kayaks). This last time we visited in the winter, and curling up by the roaring fire in the unique stone fireplace in the large "parlor" was just what we needed after a day out in the cold. And the breakfast has to be mentioned...John concocted scrumptious omelets, and that was only one part of the delicious meal. Summer or winter, the Lake House is an idyllic spot!

Jane, it was so good to see you and Jeff again! We have had a wonderful winter season as people are finding the Inn open year-round now. With skiing at Gunstock Mountain, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and a whole host year-round activities, The Lakes Region rally has a lot to offer year round. Congratulations on the purchase of your vacation home up here. We wish you many, many happy years there.

The Inn keepers made our very first trip to a B&B unforgetable. They could not have been more accomodating, friendly or skilled! The room was beautiful and extremely clean. The breakfasts were to die for and the cookies...well you get our drift! Definately want to return when the lake is warm and the area is more active! The snow shoeing at Prescott Farm was great, thanks for the recommendation Cindy! John, you made the most delicious breakfasts ever and the restaurant you sent us to (Onions) was so good we went three nights straight! We loved our private fire every night! Despite being the only people in the Inn, we were pampered and felt like visiting family!

Room Tip: We stayed ground floor in Wentworth, nice two person jacuzzi tub, located just off living/tv room, m...

Thank you so much for your review Pam. We really enjoyed having you and Peter stay with us, and are happy that you enjoyed our breakfasts. John loves to make breakfast for the guests, and is continually coming up with new things to try, but we always focus on local eggs and produce. We look forward to seeing you both again soon.

My daughter and I had the most wonderful mother/daughter weekend at The Lake House at Ferry Point. The Inn was absolutely beautiful and so comfortable. The breakfasts were some of the best ones we've ever had. But even more important than those things, are how much at home and welcome John and Cindy Becker made us feel. I can't begin to express how much more delightful it made our stay. We are definitely going back there and I can't imagine anyone not loving their stay at their inn.

My wife and I did a 2 night stay here on a groupon deal Feb 2013. Owners John and Cindy serve up an incredible breakfast and are wonderful hosts....the view from our room was as great as the website showed with Mt Shaw the dominant feature across the lake...in fact all the rooms are nicely done up and in tip top shape....many thumbs up.....

Thank you so much for the review. The breakfasts at the Lake House at Ferry Point are one of the things that we really think sets us apart from other B&Bs. John enjoys cooking and is proud of the positive responses we have received about his breakfasts. We look forward to having you return when the ice is out of the lake. It is even more beautiful when the sunshine is twinkling of the water!

We stayed at The Lake House at Ferry Point last weekend. The inn-keepers, John and Cindy, were so friendly, hospitable, and accommodating! The inn, itself, was quiet and beautiful. It sits quietly facing Lake Winnisquam and has gorgeous views from nearly every room. The fireplace is the most rare and inexplicably beautiful fire place I have ever seen and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our room was large and comfortable and our bed was so cozy we slept like we were sleeping in a cloud. Breakfast was superb and the coffee hot and fresh and delicious. It was an absolutely FLAWLESS stay and we can't WAIT to come back in the summertime when we can swim in the Lake and enjoy their kayaks. Truly: It was everything one hopes to find when visiting a B&B !

Room Tip: All of the rooms were beautiful and tasteful and well-equipped and serviced. But I highly recommend...

Susan, Thank you for your wonderful review. It was a pleasure meeting you, and we too are looking forward to seeing you when the weather gets warmer and the the ice is out of the lake. We have been working hard since your stay to improve the Lake House in several ways. Gone is the old wall paper on the second floor. We are excited for people to see what we have replaced it with. The fireplace is newly re-mortared, and the minerals and rocks have been washed. It looks better than ever, and is now ready for guests to enjoy for the next hundred years!
