“Excellent Fall Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

Traveled with three other families to Woodmore for Columbus day weekend and had a great time. Sites were spacious and clean. Owners were really nice and very helpful for us newcomers. We went apple picking at a local orchard and then hiked Mt. Monadnock which was only 15 minutes away. Campground was about 50% seasonal, but all the rentals were together. Atmosphere was nice and everyone there was very friendly. Would definitely come back again.

Stayed 3 nights in our bunkhouse travel trailer.

Rates based on family of four (THANK YOU!) and very reasonable!

Wow, what a nice surprise!

Site was nice and level. Fire ring was steel with a flip over grill grate.

Firewood was pine so a noisy fire but, it was pretty cheap $6 for a bucket (lotsa wood) and they delivered it right to your site. Besides, the snapping and popping was actually kinda relaxing.

Extremely friendly staff. Site was clean and well maintained. It is a smaller campground so the sites are a little close but, not crammed in.

Bathrooms and showers were clean. A little dated but, clean never goes out of style. Diswashing stations on the outside of the shower house with nice big sinks and hot water. Regular sinks with GFI outlets and mirrors on the porch of the shower house for those that just needed a little "maintenance" for the day.
Showers did cost .25 for 5 minutes so a 20 minute shower cost ya a buck...big deal. Water was hot and stayed on!

What was most noticeable at the site was that EVERYONE was having a good time. Laughter and smiles thoughout the day and night.

This site was easy to walk around in with the pooches. Lots of kids and bikes, a really great place for a family outing. Easy to get to everyplace in the site.

It was redneck weekend so, the horseshoe tournament with toilet seats was hilarious. The redneck costume contest was a hoot! Lotsa camo, lol!

The pool was just a pool but everyone enjoyed it. The bocce court was nice and the first time my kids played, they loved it. Horseshoe pits were great and the playground was extremely popular.

Quiet hours were self policed, no gestapo on golf carts needed!

Would recommend to anyone with kids and dogs.
This place is a gem for anyone in central MA. About an hour from Woo-stah, and NH means NO sales tax!

Our family LOVES Woodmore. We've been going there for years every Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend. From Leominster it's less then an hour drive and after a couple hours of set up we are nicely relaxed and in vacation mode. The staff is a family that truly took the place over and made lots of improvements. They work their butts off that is for sure...and it's truly a family business. The store is well stocked, there are activities for the kids and it's close enough of a campground that you can pretty much know your kids are save anywhere in the entire campground. Great bands every time we've been there...bocce, horseshoes and they were building a Fenway-esque Whiffle Ball field when we went this Memorial Day----we hope it's completed this coming weekend. It's clean, but not too fancy....just like us...we LOVE Woodmore

I haven't camped much so don't have too much to compare Woodmore to but...I was pleasantly surprised having read some of the poorer reviews before I left. Our family had two quiet side by side sites off the beaten path. The restrooms and showers were clean and fairly modern. The staff including Sam who I assume was the owner were all helpful and friendly. If you have small children there is plenty to keep them busy. There isn't much of a beach and the edge of the water was full of lilly pads but once you get thru them the water is clean. We rented kayaks and rowed out to an island where we swam.

Not the fault of the campground but there was a gentleman at a neighboring site who couldn't keep his alcohol down and kept us awake part of one night, in some respects it was humorous, Earl you know who you are.

I would recommend this location and will be returning.

As usual, we try to review places we visit ahead of time to get some idea what people are saying. AS you would expect, you find a huge range of what people say and often wonder whether this is the truth or there is some vendetta or someone is overselling how good or bad a place is.

Woodmore’s reviews were no different, wide range of opinions about the staff and the place but some things were the same no matter what we read, like the place is unpaved and is muddy when it rains and secondly, it is VERY tight in a lot of places and people, cars, trucks and campers are very close! Lots of seasonal campers here too. Woodmore definitely gets as many campers into the spaces as they can fit!

Having said that, our review is based on one visit and it rained for three of the four days we were there, so we’ll try to be fair!

Staff: While others complained loudly about the staff, in our one visit, the staff was helpful, kind, observant, offered opinions to help out. We found no issues with them and they appeared to be honestly concerned about giving us great customer service, even “after they got our money” like one reviewer mentioned.

Activities: Lots to do here even though we only were able to kayak one day, such as hiking trails, pools, bocce, basketball, baseball/softball field, horseshoes, kayak and canoes rentals, fishing, rec hall with scheduled activities, live music on weekend nights, delivery f wood and propane to your site if needed, and campground store that is pretty well stocked. There is even a security gate so non-camper access is limited.

Quiet time was interesting. On two nights, right at the stroke of quiet time, it was quiet and stayed so all night. On our last night, forget about it! An hour after quiet time, people were still screaming and yelling and singing etc. and despite several campers yelling out loudly for these groups to be quiet. Some other reviewers previously mentioned that the owners had jumped all over them for “noise” after quiet time, but we never saw or heard the owners after the quiet hour especially on our last night.

Bathrooms- while they were not as bad as some reviewers mentioned previously, they were in bad need of updating and maintenance; we didn’t use them much due to using our camper, but when we did go into them to try them and use the showers, the showers were down and things inside were broken or dirty. Hey, we get it… its camping, but at least have showers and dispensers that work. We’re not looking for 4 star bathrooms, but the bathrooms here could use some help.

Grounds/Lake- Grounds are decently maintained and look like they try to keep it clean but if you’re looking for a place to park your camper with some privacy and woods around you, forget it- we’re wall to wall campers and vehicles, unless you want to park your smaller camper down in the tenting area that has electricity and water; the lake was what you expected in New England but there really isn’t a beach that you’d expect t lay out your towels etc. It’s a small area that’s really full of canoes etc. To be used as a launching point. Best you use the small pool if you want to swim.

A group of friends and I (Late 20's) stayed here for 2 nights during our climb of Mt. Monadnock. We reserved two of their most secluded sites (W1 & W2) even though our party was only big enough for one.

We did this to ensure our privacy, be considerate of other campers, and to be honest we don't get away much and we wanted to have a good time. This strategy wound up costing us a pretty decent amount of money as their rates are toward the higher end, but we considered this worth it.

About 3 hours into the first night, despite our preemptive efforts we were immediately hassled by the staff. There was no cursing, no interaction with other campers. Even though we had intentionally isolated ourselves, we were apparently guilty of being too loud (at 6pm) and we're threatened with eviction from the staff.

While we didn't hear anything from them after that point, that experience put a damper on the rest of the weekend and had us looking over our shoulders when we should have been enjoying the company of friends.

Other than that I would say the grounds are decently maintained. However, the "lake" we we're situated on was 100% covered in green plant growth which is fine but made the lake just about unusable for recreation.

I've stayed in worse places before, but for the money we spent I think we could have done better.
