“Still The One”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

My husband and I moved back to this area after many years of living elsewhere and we've enjoyed revisiting our "old haunts." One of our former favorites, the Golden Egg, is again on our Let's Go There list. We were delighted to recognize many of the original staff and see that the menu and the food quality is consistent with what we remembered. The cardamon coffee cake is delicious and I love the Eggs Blackstone but no matter your preference, the Golden Egg offers a satisfying breakfast or lunch (and dessert, if you're so inclined). Check out the interesting specials too. Expect a waiting line out the door if you go there mid morning on a week-end. The restaurant is small but efficient and fast in getting its patrons served and on their way. We are very happy to be among them

“Golden Egg breakfast and lunch”

Great informal breakfast stop year round. Weekends usually has a waiting line outdoors. Cash only. Same staff for years which is a good sign.

“Good breakfast”

Busy little spot, quick service, nice quality ingredients. Large portions, innovative specials but not inexpensive, good value though.

“Sumptuous and filling breakfast that doesn't break the bank!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013 via mobile

Based upon TA reviews, we made a point of getting out of the hotel to enjoy what turned out to be a fabulous and thoroughly filling breakfast at the Golden Egg. So glad we did. Fortunately, at 10 a.m. on a Thursday morning, we were able to immediately secure a table in this smallish restaurant that has the feel of a neat little New England diner. One of the first things you notice is how well staffed this restaurant is, and how efficiently they operate. Our server immediately offered coffee which was promptly delivered. The menu, both regular and specials of the day, is really substantial. We could have easily ordered 12 to 15 different dishes -- they all sounded so great.

I settled on an an omelette with andouille sausage, green peppers, onions and cheese, and decided to order baked beans on the side instead of home fried potatoes, and dry whole wheat bread. My spouse ordered the huevos rancheros omelette with home fried potatoes. Both omelets were sizable portions, chock full of fresh ingredients, and both were appropriately spicy. Both side dishes were tasty, and we were stuffed by the end.

We noticed that there were at least four persons in the kitchen, which explains why the meals were prepared quickly. Our server was very nice, and thoroughly experienced. We strongly recommend Golden Egg for breakfast for its quality and very high value.

“Great Breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

Went for breakfast off the recommendation of a friend (whose wedding we were in town for) and were not disappointed. My husband had the French toast and I ordered chocolate chip pancakes. Both were delicious! The restaurant is on the smaller side. If you go on a Saturday like we did, get there early to avoid a wait!
